As a newbie to nes dev, what is the best emulator source code to use as a starting point for new development?

C/C++ language using MS visual studio/Windows is my preferred environment .

Djgpp is second.

Answer - your own emulator. Start by reading a 6502 CPU document and try to do a draft of CPU opcodes operations. Then, start programming them. Later, you create an environment.

To compile, I use MinGW + Allegro + DevCpp as UI. ;)

I was able to get VirtualNES (by Norix) built and running.

It is in C++ and the source is modern Win32 for Visual Stuido.

The only downside is that the comments are mixed Japanese and english.

Some good featues:
1. Continiously updated real time memory dump
2. name table viewer
3. scrolling viewer
