Can somebody test some VRC6 code for me? (PowerPak)

I've been working on my music tracker, Pornotracker, and I would like to find out if my 6502 player code works on NTSC NES (and/or Famicom). Can somebody try it out on the real deal for me?

Why wouldn't it work? Well, it writes the sprites manually using $2003/$2004 and I'm not completely sure if that's 100% reliable. It works fine in my PAL NES though.

I doubt many people have VRC6 dev carts, so you'll need PowerPak with loopy's VRC6 (included in the latest mapper pack).

Here's the ROM: http://thefox.aspekt.fi/nes/lotus9.nes

I know some people are going to run this in an emulator, so let it be known that it only works in Nintendulator and Nestopia. FCEUX and a lot of other emulators don't properly implement VRC6's cycle based IRQ.

Before we can use it on a devcart we need to know which VRC6 cart register map did you use? The Akumajou densetsu map or Madara/Esper Dream one? Most people seems to use the former but the cheapest devcart (~1$) is in the later group.

Ah yeah, it's mapper 24, so same as Akumajou Densetsu. Of course this doesn't matter when using PowerPak, since both configs have been assigned different iNES mapper numbers. :)

I can change the registers if somebody has a mapper 25 devcart...

I do have a VRC6 devcart, the Madara one (it's not mapper #26?). The only thing I don't have much these days is time ;)

Just say yes or no. I'm not going to bother changing the registers if you're not going to do it. If it's too much work (burning ROMs and all that stuff), don't bother. There must be somebody out there with a PowerPak. :) If not I'll ask on NintendoAGE.

For now it will be no because of my current schedule. If you cannot test it for some reason, I can always find some time in the following weeks.

Works perfectly.

Tested on a powerpak 1.34b2 and an NTSC NES.

Edit: I just realized you made the music; very nice cover.

Thanks!

That white strip on the left side, does it change color? It's not supposed to be there but I guess it's an NTSC oddity.

Do you have a white strip on the left side of Concentration Room in-game? If so, that's the border color. On NTSC, the border color is the same as the background color in $3F00; on PAL, it's always black.

That font's pretty awesome. What does Locus Curbo Challenge mean exactly?

A 'c' with its upper curve replaced with a horizontal line is a glyph variant of 't', commonly associated with Gaelic type. You confuse it with 'c'; Dwedit confused it with 'z'.

Reminds me of one of Fairlight's old fonts. Though the T is even more curved here.

I still think it was a joke, but you have got a point there. Maybe it's not obvious to everybody.

BTW the font is from http://kofler.dot.at/c64/

Yes, it changes color in sync with the words PORNO TRACKER.

For the record, I actually do get a small static white strip on the left side of the screen in Concentration Room. The play area is actually a pea green color, but my camera picked it up as white.
