Myself and spikeman have been tag-teaming the gbcolorizer code and have managed to get colorized gb games running on real hardware:
Here's the patches in their current states.
Metroid 2:

Marioland:

Spikeman is working on fixing that annoying random glitching tile bug. Once that's fixed really these will be running flawlessly. I'm currently getting people to playtest metroid 2 since I don't know the game very well and I figure someone with experience could plow through it much faster than myself.
Hardware testing was done on a couple of gameboy devcarts I built. My mbc 5 devcart supports uv eproms up to 1mbyte and dip flash chips up to 512k. Also my mbc5 cart has the largest size sram and a battery circuit so it can save your game as well.
Marioland / Metroid 2 full colour romhacks
Re: Marioland / Metroid 2 full colour romhacks
Finished your version of colored super marioland a few days ago. it was great. no glitches, a few colorization issues here and there which i assume cannot be corrected because of restrictions of gbcolorizer. these are really minor issues. late colorization of some sprites, a few wrong colored sprites here and there.
good luck on future projects and thanks to the all contributers.

You can play it start to finish in an emulator. Making it work on real hardware would require relocating the original game code. I don't like marioland 2 that much so I can't be bothered.
