I can only take credit for drawing the pixels, because there's an original source. YOU however get mad props if you can guess it right what it is. I removed a detail i had in there that could make it too easy to google. It's mini quiz time! Take a guess.

And if you want to comment or critique styles and methods, that's appreciated and welcome as usual. The goal of this excercise was mainly how to simplify something naturalistic/photorealistic.

This is about as advanced as i can get it without cutting down on unique traits in the table any further. it is using 250 tiles/chars, 6 spare ones now that said detail is removed.

Edit: Here's a betterment question i'm weighing on: I tried to use dithering only where i think it matters, namely where the darkness of the hull meets the fog-of-underwater and dissolves. Still, do you think this works?

Looking good, nice use of tiles. Can you post the tile set too?

I'd extend the top and bottom as much as I could if I were you

Can do, in time (when i get back home, essentially afk at the moment)! Do you plan to experiment, or just curious?

What's the reasoning? Is it for aesthetic reasons, or am i maybe overlooking something? What do you think of the clean/dither ratio?

I plan to do a thematic suite (in time) of this, so keeping them concistent in style is ofc important.
