Goodnes .dat file rebuild and update

Post by FamiNES » Wed Jun 10, 2020 6:35 pm

Don't know if this is the right place to be posting this but, I am currently rebuilding and updating the GoodNES rom catalog. I intend to re-tag and correct the rom files in GoodNES 3.23b , add in new roms (eventually the FDS catalog as well), and then write a script to properly sort roms into easy to find categories.

A few of the changes include:
Homebrews and hacks will be sorted the same as translations with old and new versions being separated.
[h] and [p] tags will be completly removed.
Hacks improperly tagged as (Unl) will be correctly named.
Roms will include distributor and year in the filename, including translations hacks and homebrews.
Hack, translations and homebrews will include the creator name (when avail.) in the file name.

I have already finished writing the 3.23b .dat (Currently .nes files only) and am currently re-tagging and correcting the roms.
This .dat includes all files #-b retagged and has been tested on Romcenter 4.0.1

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

I would distinguish between original homebrew and hacks.

Oh OK, I misunderstood this:
Homebrews and hacks will be sorted the same as translations
