I get sick of using 27C322 (4MB) EPROMs and erasing them all the time when I want to program something else, not to mention they mostly fail to erase themselves.... That is why I ask you if I can somehow use a MX29L3211 chip on Sega Genesis?? There are some SOP44->DIP44 adapters available here:
http://www.buyicnow.com/it.php?i=203

Which one of them is the best to choose?? How should I assemble it after getting all needed parts?? How can I use it on my GQ-4X programmer?? What device should I choose and how am I supposed to program and erase it?? I have GQ-4X programmer with 16bit EPROM adapter. Will it be enough?? I'd strongly appreciate any kind of help or suggestions from you. Big thanks in advance!!

I think you either have bad chips or need to change the bulb in your eraser cause UV eproms all erase just the same.

FLASH EEPROMs are pretty easy to program yourself. I can't speak to anyone's adapters, however.

THAT SAID: The MX29L3211 is a 3V ROM. Do NOT use it in a 5V system, such as the Genesis, without adding voltage translation. Failure to do so will, at best, slowly damage the EEPROM, and at worst, damage the console.

Unfortunately, the largest 5V ROMs still being made are mostly 512 KiB, although Macronix and Micron are making a few 1 and 2 MiB models (MX29F800C, M29F800F, M29F160F). There are certainly no new 5V 4MiB Flash 'PROMs at all.
