The third one from the bottom is ugly af, and the second one from the bottom isn't bad, but it's not good either; it looks like an NES game with more shades but the same number of hues.

We're really forgetting the obvious though:

I think one of them is US, the rest I'm pretty sure is European. I was talking about western games in general though. :) These are just examples, so your mileage may vary, obviously, but there are tons more to take from. Whether you like them or not, I definitely found that western developers at the time tended to focus more on graphics than gameplay.
