Who has made the Wifi controller for Nintendo DS?

Post by nocash »

Does anybody know who has made the NDS wifi controller? Like info from old press releases, or data sheets resembling the NDS wifi hardware, or labels/comments in nintendo's SDK? Of course, the latter two would be also interesting if they shed more light on the functionality of the hardware - regardless of knowing the manufacturer's name.

Reverse engineered NDS wifi specs are here: http://problemkaputt.de/gbatek.htm#dswi ... unications (the register names may differ in offical specs, but their overall purpose should be more or less as described).
The NDS wifi controller is custom(ized) in so far that it has "multiplayer" support (for sending one message, and receiving replies from all other players), but apart from that special feature it might resemble some off-the-shelf wifi controller.
The wifi controller itself is contained in the NDS cpu (so there's no part number or maker name for the wifi controller). There are some external BB/RF chips and FLASH calibration settings on the wifi daughterboard which might help on tracking down similar designs.
