Be careful when putting UOROM game on UNROM board

So, this is rather weird.
I was trying to make a cart of Seirei Gari English translated by snark.
Game works fine in an emulator and on Everdrive.

Game was burnt to a 27c040 and it was wired like shown in other posts by me:

Pin 1,2,24,30,31,32 were lifted

Pin 2 to hole 22 MaskROM (A16)
Pin 24 to GND
Pin 30 and 32 VCC
Pin 31 NC

Game boots, works but has graphic glitches.
I've checked mirroring. All set properly.

I checked my wirings again and again. All correct.
Desoldered the EPROM, read it, all correct and verified properly.
Soldered it in again. Same problem.
Measured all contacts with a multimeter. All present and correct.
So I came to the conclusion that the CHR RAM might be corrupted, so I replaced it with another one.
No change, still.

Had a 74HC161 lying around. No change either.

Sadly I don't have any 74HC32 left but I bought some and was wondering if it really can be destroyed? Here's pictures of the game running.

Title Screen looks fine, except the cursor, which is glitched.
After that it's a pure mess, as you can see.

Can the 74HC32 really cause such weird problems?


Problem solved. Seirei Gari uses UOROM and is marked as UNROM in emulators.
I wired accordingly and it works now!

What additional wire changes were needed to make the UNROM donor act as UOROM?

This is what I did (found on Famicomworld):
UNROM -> UOROM conversion (mapper 2):
Bend up pin 6 of 74HC161
Bend up pins 9 and 10 from 74HC32
Connect pin 9 from 74HC32 to pin 2,5, or 12 of 74HC32 so all 4 are connected together.
Connect pin 11 of 74HC161 to pin 10 of 74HC32
Connect pin 6 of 74HC161 to D3 of PRG ROM
Connect pin 8 of 74HC32 to A17 (Pin 30) of PRG ROM

Other than that, wire the PRG ROM like you normally would with UNROM.
Pin 2 to hole 22 (A16)
Pin 24 to GND
Pin 31 is NC
Pin 32 to VCC

I've also found this:

but this doesn't work at all.

I've read this is for Konami boards that act like UNROM. Verification for that, please.

This worked for me on Konami boards. Did you have any issues with any of the script using the wrong tiles using the method you used?

Yea, but mine isn't a Konami board so I had to use this method. It's the same wiring an original UOROM is, so no problems.

Is it just pins 6 (161) and 9,10 (32) that need lifting? Are the others just linked too as it maybe to answer to why I'm stuck lol

What are you stuck on? o_O Just bend up the pins you marked red. The others you connect wires to are not connected at all and don't need to be lifted.
