swapbin m27c160 possible?

Post by BokuNES » Sat May 30, 2020 10:11 pm

hi to all, well i have this problems with making 2 mb repros with the 27c160, are very tedious to solder because there is no swapbin for this kind of chip (i know that this is a 16 bits data bus chip), its not like to work with the 27c801 for example, so it is posible to make compatible with the pinout of the maskrom holes (at least most of the pins)???, best regards!

PD: please dont answer me that is better to buy an am29f016 with an adapter, i want to know about this chip in particular!

btw this are my 27c160 repros, i dont like to leave the chip "in the air", so i connect the a1 to a7 pins to the board, and the rest of the pins i soldered with wire, i know that is not beautiful but well, i think is the best thing i can made for this kind of chip Image Image

Yes, it's possible. I don't know of a program that will already do it for the M27C160.

You can shuffle between any address pin and any other address pin, and separately between any of D0-D7. The other pins more-or-less must remain fixed.

Optimal overlap tentatively looks like it would be to align M27C160 Q0 to mask ROM D1, with address-to-address and data-to-data matches for 21 pins, and 14 pins on the M27C160 needing rewiring.
