Zelda 2 Kazzo/Anago

Post by Thogart »

I've tried many times to get Zelda 2 - The Adventures of Link to dump, but when I load the game in the EMU, All i get is a black screen. Any suggestions?

Yup, using mmc1_skrom.ag

Result:

mirroring Charcter ROM fixed
***\Link.nes, mapper 1
Program ROM: size 0x020000, crc32 0x0c4dcf73
Charcter ROM: size 0x002000, crc32 0x07fe2c8c

Still Just a blackscreen.

When I try to open it in Nestopia, the first error in the log is that it can't find the .sav file?
So I created a .sav file and now this is all that's in the log file. Game still will not load.

Unfortunately, both PRG and CHR have been dumped incorrectly.
http://bootgod.dyndns.org:7777/profile.php?id=85 has the "correct" CRC32s, which don't match yours.

I don't know how to diagnose what's going wrong without looking inside the dumps you've made; feel free to PM me with it (or apparently also zxbdragon). Hopefully we'll be able to see what's wrong by comparing it to a known-good dump and tell you how to fix it.

Your dumper is failing to perform bankswitching at all (all CHR banks are identical and all PRG banks except the last/fixed one are identical) and also some data lines appear to be stuck or not making contact, example:

Code: Select all

your dump 0x01c000:89 00 8d 01 00 8d 00 00-89 05 00 cc cf 00 80 86
should be 0x01c000:a9 00 8d 01 20 8d 00 20-a9 05 20 cc ff 20 a0 a6
The problem could be with your device, with the cartridge, or with the connection between them. Have you successfully dumped any other cartridges with your device? Does the cartridge you're trying to dump work on a NES?

I have successfully dumped about half my carts...

I'll have to drag out my system and see if the cart still works...
Could that batt just be dead?

The battery wouldn't affect dumping (or playing) the cartridge.

Yes, the Cart still works. Tested it today.

Maybe it's the script i'm using? Mind if i get a copy of the one your using?

Wait?! I just ran a dump, and it worked?!

Ok, I gotta ask... Do you have to name the rom dump exactly the same as the game name?
(I wouldn't think that would matter, I mean, I'm just naming a file. This time i called it Zelda2, before i was naming it Link...)

NES games themselves always have finicky connection issues regardless. We saw that the data line 0x20 was always 0 in the dump, so that wasn't connected correctly.
