FCEUX emulator missing Tools and Debug sections

Post by giuIT » Sat Sep 10, 2016 6:24 pm

Hello,

I downloaded FCEUX 2.2.2. from the Ubuntu software center and i need to watch the RAM addresses.
To do this i need to go to tools->cheat search.. The problem is that on the main window my FCEUX emulator only has
File, Options, Emulation, Movie and Help. I really cannot find any tools->cheat search..

Any help??

Thanks

AFAIK, the Linux version is known for missing all the debug features. Most people run the Windows version using Wine.

Tokumaru is correct.

Seeing as FCEUX for Windows is free software, the only reasons I can think of not to use Wine for this are if
  1. Your PC is ARM or MIPS rather than x86, such as a Chromebook in developer mode.
  2. Your PC runs 64-bit Linux and your /usr partition isn't big enough to hold the 32-bit libraries that Wine requires to run 32-bit executables.

c. Running it in wine is really slow to start and feels janky.

I run in native FCEUX when I don't need to debug, and in wine when I do....

The latest beta version of fceux's SDL port (for linux and mac os) now has a Qt front end gui that contains most of the debug tools that previously only existed on the windows version.
