Castle of no Escape 2 - Zelda-like oldschool arcade (Steam)

Hi everyone.

Whoever reads this, I'm sure you'll like this one. Especially the flickering at 2:16.

This video shows the game story intro too:

Pictures and stuff:

We've made a faux NES cartridge and printed a real manual in English and Russian:

The prequel (available for free):

How's that to you?
I've been thinking about making a NES "port" of ConE, at least the first one, but it's really a lot of work, it seems. So I'm just showing this Steam stuff.
Sorry, Windows only. Old Game Maker doesn't compile to anything else.

It's actually based on an old "Leygref's Castle" text adventure game, but everyone calls it Zelda-, or even Isaac-like now. Well, whatever.

Do we need a thread for NES lookalike modern games? Super Win The Game was really good too.

I suppose if you send me one I can verify that it works in Wine.

Most other old gamemaker games seem to...

I think that game has subpixel movement. The movement of objects look a little too smooth.

I guess you can take advantage of the deinterlacing of an HDTV to fake some subpixel horizontal movement, just as long as the fields match up correctly.

Yes, the actual movement is real-valued. I didn't get what do you mean about deinterlacing, can you explain more?

If you check the Wine, tell us, that's interesting.

Also, does anyone have an idea about how hard/long will it be to make a real NES version of this game?

Seems to work fine in Wine. Having problems with no audio at all, but I'm about 99% confident that it's a Steam+Wine+Alsa interaction problem instead.

That's cool! Now one more guy tries to get it working. Says it's some issue with Pulse, but no working config for now.

If anyone cares... Castle of no Escape 2 soundtrack have just been released! Original and arranged versions are waiting for you, also there's bonus - 47-minute megamix.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/566790 - in Steam. Would anyone like it on Bandcamp or such?
