I've seen bitdefender add in quite a few domains over the last quarter into its definition; typically sites with a small-ish user base. Today marked the day it started blocking the nesdev forums. It's of course easily reversible by adding an exclusionn, but it made me curious as to why there seems to be an uptick in warning about perfectly fine sites.

Its probably has a "have enough people visited this site to warrant spending time on checking properly" policy. To which blocking it is the safer approach. Maybe it has a few generic red flags, lack of HTTPS, or it found an old version of PHP or something listed.

For one thing, the version of phpBB 3 in use is old. I guess I should mail WhoaMan about restoring my shell access.

Maybe try contacting bitdefender and finding out the actual reason why before upgrading random stuff?

Old versions of well known open source projects are always prone to exploits though, no reason not to upgrade either way :)
