Cool Chiptune Videos

Post by kevtris » Tue Nov 04, 2008 3:27 pm

Weelll, I was trolling the 'tube the other day and came across two really cool chiptune music videos that didn't seem to have much exposure.

Are there many more of these types of things kicking around? I haven't had too much looking on the 'tube anyways. Maybe I am not searching for the right thing.

Forgive me if they've been posted or hashed to death already :-)

The first is TOBIAH - I Love Your Music

And the second is THE HARDLINER - Zoloft Blues

Yeah, though I liked it. Especially him being the "Fire Wire Lover", LOL

One of my favorite IDM/breakcore/glitch DJs, Venetian Snares, has a great track on his album "Cavalcade of Glee and Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms" called 'Pwntendo.' There's a fanvid of it on youtube here:

I don't know his process, but from reading up on him, he likely tracked this in Renoise, synthesizing the square and triangle channels, much like tepples' proof of concept S3M's. I think it's likely he sampled some games for their sound effects.
At any rate, i think he really captured the spirit of the 2a03, even if he didn't use it directly.
