Not talking about PCB design, but rather tracing out scans of existing boards. Anyone know if such software is out there?

Basically hoping to find something where I can give it high-res scans of both sides of an unpopulated PCB and then it can show you the complete path of any given trace, including ones that go back and forth between sides.

Give me some scans, and I might be able to knock something up in Python.

Well here is the front and back of a CNROM compatible board. Not particularly interested in the results of this one, but it happened to be laying around and should be easy to verify pinouts.

Scanned at 1200dpi, which seems sufficient, traces are 8+ pixels wide at that rez. This may prove to be harder than I thought, the traces aren't as distinct from the background as I thought, so trying to trace by chasing colors in a certain tolerance level probably won't work well. Working with the red channel only seems to give the most distinction between the traces and rest of the board.

It probably won't be automatic. First, one would have to use GIMP to reduce each of the PCB's layers (two in this case) to monochrome so that flood fills can work. But even so, I'll guess it'd still be less error-prone than manual tracing.
