Oh, OK! Makes sense. I'll just enable the ones for the particular game I'm playing instead of going hog wild and checking all the boxes.mykie wrote: This existed prior to the update; You'll want to disable these extra channels if the game you're playing doesn't support them.
From what I gather, enabling these is like switching to an input on a stereo amplifier that doesn't have anything plugged into it, you'd just get ambient electrical signals.

Oh thank you for confirming I'm not just hearing things. Not a big deal at all. I freaking love this thing and showing the NES Games to my 7 year old nephew is just priceless. Thanks guys!

I'm not saying nobody uses those features, I'm speculating that less people use HQX than standard interpolation. And non-aligned scanlines, I'm not even sure why that's a thing, so I can see where that suggestion came from.Myask wrote:I see three counts of "I don't want this feature so nobody probably does".

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES
Can anyone test FDS Metroid on their Hi-Def NES? Apparently the most recent update to the Analogue Nt Mini, also designed by Kevtris using his FPGA design, may have silenced the door opening sound. Kevtris asked about it on the AtariAge page dedicated to the Nt Mini. The firmware upgrade fixed the FDS sound in Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa, but there may be a regression somewhere.

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES
Hello,
I got my PAL NES HDMI-Modded. On firmware version 2.25, i had that known glitchy video problem, which perfectly got resolved by version 3.00/3.01. But now after running the console for 10 to 20 minutes, the video gets a huge mess. A flickery pixel garbage is left on the screen. However, the OSD of the HDMI-Mod is displayed correctly. Does anyone know how to solve that? Has anyone got the same problems?
My NES got the following ICs:
CPU: RP2A07 0EL 38
PPU: RP2C07-0 0GL 3W
Thanks!

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES
Hi Kevtris - having a bit of trouble trying to upgrade my H-def NES from 2.25 to the new 3.01 firmware. I'm using an official Everdrive N8 with v15 OS. The Hi-Def NES upgrade ROM launches fine, I see it waiting for a request. But every time I try to run the Firmware Update routine in the Hi-Def NES settings it returns "Firmware integrity failure or no update cart." I've tried using a different SD card, re-seating the cartridge, etc...no luck. All games I've tried play fine.
Any ideas on things I could check/try?
Thanks

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES
So I saved the update like a NES game ROM in a folder and I did the update via the update menu in the Hi Def NES, not by starting the update like a game. Is that what you're doing?Zantony wrote:Hi Kevtris - having a bit of trouble trying to upgrade my H-def NES from 2.25 to the new 3.01 firmware. I'm using an official Everdrive N8 with v15 OS. Having the same exact problem using a Powerpak that I just bought to do this update. Still stuck on 2.25Zantony wrote:Hi Kevtris - having a bit of trouble trying to upgrade my H-def NES from 2.25 to the new 3.01 firmware. I'm using an official Everdrive N8 with v15 OS. Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES
Finally getting around to posting my success story. I decided to use dual wipe sockets on everything and it turned out great. To do this I needed to use Flip-pins on the interposer (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14087). Everything turned out great and couldn't be happier with the results.
Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES
Hi
My NES is close to perfect after the FW update, BUT I have another weird problem. Everytime I do a cold start I get this garbled graphics (see screenshots).
Initially I got around this by turning the console on and off until, after doing this repeated times, the graphics was back to normal. I figured it was just a weird random thing.
But then I noticed that I would achieve the same thing if I just let the console be on for a few minutes. After a reset the graphics was back to normal.
It's defiantly not random, I only see this at cold start. Does this make any sense?
My best guess is that there is an issue with some connection or cap (which I have replaced) but I thought I would ask for your opinion before I start desoldering.
Edit: I should add that I get this when using official games as well as flash carts.
Thanks!

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES
Based on the specific nature of the corruption, with title screen addresses being off by $0200 or $02 and tile numbers being off by $02, it looks like other signals are bleeding into the line between CPU D1 and PPU I/O D1. Could you check the soldering on that line, making sure it isn't bridged to anything?
Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES
This was exactly the kind of help I was hoping for! Much appreciated! I'll check the soldering and re-post when I have more info.

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES
Still some of my Everdrive-games are flickering (at least Metroid (PAL) and Little Samson (PAL)) after the latest Hi-Def NES update, but most of them seems fine with my NES PAL-B, rev-0 cpu/ppu.
Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES
I can't recall if this was answered already, but with my HiDefNES install the audio enables are not saved when I power off the system. So each time I turn on the NES I need to remember to go in there and save the sound channels I've enabled. Is it possible to save these somehow, or is there some conflict that keeps it from saving and that's just the way it is? (Not really a big deal, but i'm just a little curious).
