I got some cartridges as junk.
One of them wasn't booting and I dumped the ROMs.
To my surprise it's the same US Star Wars game, even with the Victor Musical, Lucas Film and Beam Software copyright screens.
Some screens of the japanese text:
The captures a a little odd, since I couldn't find Nestopia 1.45 shortcut key and used a screen capture tool.
I couldn't find this ROM online, is it uncommon?
Should I share an IPS?
Edit: I forgot the CRCs:
2c1365a8 SWJ.CHR
7d139211 SWJ.PRG
90406485 StarWarsJ.nes

Re: Japanese version of US Star Wars?
Victor did release Star Wars in Japan some years after Namco released its version.

The cartridge is also much rarer than the Namco version.

Re: Japanese version of US Star Wars?
Interesting.
The CRCs don't match.
I may have bad ROMs, a bad dump or a hacked version.
Does somemone have individual file's CRC?
Edit:
Nevermind, I searched for Star Wars Victor J on Google and found a ROM.
I splitted and checked. The individual CRC's match.
In fact, the CRC on that site are the same as the PRG + CHR headerless:
Now I'll work on this game's board to try to make it work.
Looks like the EPROMs are fine!
Thank you.

Re: Japanese version of US Star Wars?
If the game is a pirate cart then it may have been modified in some way, thus the crc differences. That or the rom is damaged in some way could have impact too.

Sure!Banshaku wrote:If the game is a pirate cart then it may have been modified in some way, thus the crc differences.
I edited the other post to reflect what I've found.
In fact I couldn't find the ROM because I wasn't searching with the right keywords.
Thank you.
