Converting SNROM to TSROM

Post by Thenewestdev » Fri Sep 27, 2019 2:29 am

Greetings!

I've tried to do my homework to completion and am left with some questions.

I truly appreciate any help as this is my first project.

I have a Super Mario 2 NES cart I've removed the eproms. This is a TSROM. Ines mapper 4.

I have a program to convert metroid to convert Metroid to MMC3. I've read Super Mario 2 is "actually" an MMC3.

Can I use this TSROM board to host SNROM game?

My main goal is to flash Metroid Mother and enjoy it on my NES.

If this would not work are there any workarounds or what would be the easiest route? I live in Alaska and games are kind of rare. Is there any suggestions on what the easiest way to play Metroid Mother?

I have the programmer Top3000, and eproms m27c512 and m27c2001 and an eraser :)

My next purchase is definitely a solder removal iron and some blank boards if I can get this one to work and prove to myself I have some efficacy.

Thank you very much,
Nugs

Easiest way to play it? Emulator or Flash cart.

SNROM is MMC1 and CANNOT be converted to MMC3 (the board that is).

I'm not familiar with Metroid MMC3 conversions (nor do I know any besides Rogue Dawn) and don't know if they use CHR-ROM or CHR-RAM but either way you'll have to wire the EPROMs properly and I might even think that TSROM won't do but you may need TKROM for battery backup as well. Or add battery backup manually to the TSROM board.

Awesome, I appreciate your time!

It looks like I'll buy a ROM from one of the repro sites and use this board for something else for my first project.

Thank you,

Excuse me, do you know what rom/cart I would flash Metroid Rouge Dawn onto?

I found allot of info on the ROM and the fact it uses MMC3 but nothing else. I'm on my phone as well with no computer access . I'm curious if if I could flash that to a board I have and play a new Metroid.

Thank you,
