Greetings everyone,
I am curious to find out what it takes to make a repro of Akira for the FC/NES. I had thought that since the mapper, 33, is a bit on the odd side or at least uncommon, it would be hard to do. Well, to my surprise it looks like a few individuals are gearing up towards making repros of Akira and for a quite a price it seems. So would anyone know what materials would be needed and how much it would cost to make roughly? Thanks.

The TC0190 is simpler than the MMC3, and there are already repro boards using CPLDs to implement the MMC3, so it's certainly not more difficult.
I'm not so sure about the final price. I see vendors selling flashable MMC3 boards for less than $25 (USD) each, but MMC3 is very popular so they could be getting a bulk discount on parts. On the other hand, you might be able to use a smaller (cheaper) CPLD.
