AV Famicom Reset Button Freezes Console

Post by Danexmurder » Wed Mar 17, 2021 8:57 pm

I figured if anyone could figure this out it would be the people here. I have an AV Famicom that had a NES power supply plugged into it. The power filter cap was bulged and I replaced it along with the power regulator for good measure. It is still having a couple of issues though. It takes about 3 seconds to power on and if you press the reset button it freezes. I don't see anything else physically wrong so I could use some pointers on how to diagnose and repair this. Thanks!

If one electrolytic capacitor is gone, usually you need to replace all the rest too.

Given your symptoms, especially the 0.47µF C1 off the Famicom's reset button.

Awesome, thanks for the tip. I'll just go ahead and replace the rest.

I just wanted to report back that a full recap solved it. Good call on replacing the other caps. Much appreciated!
