cpu question interchangeable?
1. are all nes toaster cpus interchangeable? assuming north american models only, i've noticed a couple different revisions on the nes board and differences on the cpu number, I'm using a cpu from a different model in my board and it works somewhat but could be error in cic im still messing around with. thanks

Re: cpu question interchangeable?
I think they're interchangeable. I know I replaced all the chips on my old Famicom with ones from a toaster NES (with a Rev G cpu). I accidentally toasted the ones on the famicom, so I had to improvise.sleepy9090 wrote:1. are all nes toaster cpus interchangeable? assuming north american models only, i've noticed a couple different revisions on the nes board and differences on the cpu number, I'm using a cpu from a different model in my board and it works somewhat but could be error in cic im still messing around with. thanks

What is a "toaster cpu" ? I've never heard of this before.
Is this like replacing the 6502 in an Apple IIe with a faster one (ie, 1.79 Mhz -> 4 MHz conversion), but for the NES? I assume not, as that would seriously fubar all of the timed code paths.
edit: OMFG... http://zedomax.com/blog/2008/09/11/diy- ... perfectly/ Is this what you guys are doing?
