List of Games Using Color Emphasis Bits

Post by Great Hierophant »

Some suggested additions to this page :

http://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/Colo ... asis_games

Final Fantasy - rapidly sets and clears all 3 emphasis bits to flash the screen when going into a battle screen or the menus by pressing start or select.

Final Fantasy 2 - rapidly sets and clears uses all 3 emphasis bits to flash the screen

Super Spy Hunter - sets all 3 emphasis bits when the game is paused. The Japanese version, Battle Formula, does not do this.

I have one more for you: The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy uses it in the beginning when the scroll is unfurled. Considering how hard Codemasters pushed the NES, I'm surprised they did not use these bits elsewhere, but it appears that they did not.

Yet another one - Bubble Bobble for the FDS uses the red emphasis bit, the cart versions do not.

Have you made a Wiki account? If so, please give myself or Tepples your Wiki username (in a PM) and we'll ensure you're given edit access so that you can edit this stuff yourself. If not, why not? My sentiments mirror that of Tepples -- edits do not have to go through him nor I, and the Wiki should act as a source of "authoritative" information, not a nesdev thread (barring reference material).

There are in fact three ways to earn mainspace editing privilege on the wiki: confirm your e-mail address (which may be broken), make two intelligent talk page edits and wait four days, or ask one of the administrators.

1. "Tokkyuu Shirei - Solbrain" japan (maybe also "Shatterhand" USA, but i haven't tested)

The red emphasis bit turns ON on lastest area after defeating second boss:

On PAL NES and Dendy screen turns green, very good test.

2. Lion King (Unl) turns red emphasis bit on title screen. On PAL NES and Dendy it also looks a bit greenish.

Found another game which I had suspected for a while, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the one by Taito. I added it to the wiki page.
