I don't have any 256KB non-epoxy boards to check this for certain, but the most likely candidates would be:

Pin 8 -> PRG A17
Pin 45 -> CHR A17

Namcot was Namco's home division.

Yes.

They were called "Namco Hometek" in the US.

And I assume they have nothing to do with Duck Tape.

Click here, activate the Flash object, then scroll to 1985. Compare the logo that the duck mascot is wearing to Namco's logo prior to the merger with Bandai.

Wow, that's a...startling similarity.

Since this thread has decayed, I might as well compliment you, sdm, on the clean wiring on your namco board. It doesn't get much better than that.

Sorry to revive this thread, but a lot of the images that accompanied the discussion are no longer visible.

Does anyone have any advice for mapping the CHR and PRG on a 163? I'd like to see what the wires/pinouts are and the only visible pics are the top side of the zif sockets (and it's way too tidy!)

thx

on the 128/128 cart i have both prg and chr use the nintendo-prg pinout. both slots are 28 pin, a17 for each side has to be tapped directly from the mapper. the only other difference i found was eprom pin 24 should connect to pin 22, things did not work when 24 was tied to GND.
