Strange multicart

This multicart contains 512 KiB PRG ROM and 512 KiB ROM, but its bankswitching scheme makes no sense to me: PRG CHR 6000=31 Street Blaster V 128 256 6002=32 Three Eyes Boy 128 128 (Mitsume ga Tooru) 6003=33 Boy Soccer II 256 128 (Captain Tsubasa 2) I cannot tell what the chips on the left and right ...

Re: Ling Jie Hu Fa - Shock/ 靈界護法 - Shock (Unl) Crash

Stage 3's PRG bank is corrupt in all dumps, including the one in Waixing's master archive. Supposedly, an early version exists with a different Waixing logo that has a working Stage 3, but nobody has it or can confirm the claim.

Attached please find my NTSC compatibility patch. Removes the crash before the boss fight, plays music correctly at 60 Hz, and removes the setting of the PPU Slave Mode bit.

Re: Best emulator approach for the long-run: ROM metadata database? Heuristics? Both?

One way to solve the dilemma would be that in the event of a database-header mismatch, the emulator does not silently correct, but shows a nag window offering the user to adjust the ROM file according to the database.

Re: Dumping educational cartridge (word/excel and other stuff)

The cartridge does not seem to respond to bank register writes at all. It is common that Kazzo-based dumpers cannot dump multicarts or educational computer cartridges because they do not provide correct clock signals to the cartridge.

Re: Dumping educational cartridge (word/excel and other stuff)

Set mirroring to vertical in the NES header, and the graphics will be fine.

Re: Final Fight 3 (mapper 90), get rid of multiplier, issues

There is a later revision of the game on the SC-128 multicart that has a lot more anti-debugging traps that also depend on the hardware multiplier being present, in case you want something to test any present of future ASIC re-implementation with. Older emulators have trouble running it even as an e...

Re: NES Test Market consoles and some deluxe models display colors wrong

It means that suboptimal electrical properties of the circuit board cause a distortion of the video signal which manifests itself in hue shifts ("phase distortion") whose amount depends on the instantaneous signal level ("differential").

Seems like an excessive amount of Differential Phase Distortion™.

I am drafting a mapper 446 wiki article right now. It's complicated, so it will take time. ;)

Re: Dumping games from Intellivision X2 console

A question: how generalizable is this method of dumping Plug-and-Play consoles? is this approach suitable for any two-blob device (noac +rom)?
