Re: Holy Diver works on Famicom but not on NES

Please post a picture of your cartridge. If the Chr-rom can't cut off quickly when CE becomes high level, so use a 74xx245 to release the ppu databus, you can also try to control the OE input, because OE has shorter Tsu than CE. crom_oe = ppu_re | ppu_ addr_ in[13]; I’m handy with a soldering iron ...

Re: Holy Diver works on Famicom but not on NES

So I took a look at my Holy Diver PCB and the only difference that I could detect on my copy is the CHR rom is listes as IREM C-1 8907 instead of Irem C-1 8908 as it is shown on the bootgod DB page. I did actually rip this rom using my Hardware CopyNES and even though this game won't play properly o...

Re: Holy Diver works on Famicom but not on NES

I'd have to crack it back open and take a really close look but I don't think that it does. I'll do that and report back.

Holy Diver works on Famicom but not on NES

I ran into an interesting issue with my Holy Diver cart and wanted to bring it up here. My Copy of Holy diver will not work on an NT Mini Noir, an original Analogue NT, or an NES with a Fami to NES converter. It WILL however work on a Sharp Twin Fami. The issue I have is that the game will boot and ...

32pin 27x is compatible with konami board, but to place Akumajou Densetsu to Madara board you should swap two address for mapper (a0 and a1).
Yep! Swapped pins 9 and 10 on the VRC6 chip.
IIRC, there was a patch posted here so that you didn't need to physically swap pins.
Ah got it.

Re: VRC6b conversion to VRC6a - Madara to Akumajo Densetsu question.

The way I did it is fully reversible. I just vacuumed out the old solder and bent the pins up through and straightened them out. Then I ran small kynar wire up through the old vias to each new pin. You can't even really see the wires from the top. It can be potentially risky doing it that way thoug...

Re: VRC6b conversion to VRC6a - Madara to Akumajo Densetsu question.

I just wanted to report back that this method worked out great! I also used a small low-profile pin converter and put it in a new NES shell. Had to Dremel out a portion to make it all fit but it works great. It's really awesome to play this with the expansion audio in English finally. The new Alucar...

Re: VRC6b conversion to VRC6a - Madara to Akumajo Densetsu question.

It seems like all I would need to do would be to lift pins 9 and 10 and switch them. If you can follow the traces on the board, it might be easier and less damaging to the chip to cut the traces with a knife and reconnect the pins with wires instead of cutting/lifting them. The way I did it is full...

Re: VRC6b conversion to VRC6a - Madara to Akumajo Densetsu question.

Should be right. As far as I know, all 32-pin ROMs not on PCBs made by Jaleco or Nintendo use a pinout compatible with 27xx PROMs, but do double check before you solder things in. Awesome, thanks for the fast reply. I tried finding the pinout for the MB83200 roms that the Madara board uses to doubl...

VRC6b conversion to VRC6a - Madara to Akumajo Densetsu question.

Hi, I was planning to convert a Madara board to Akumajo Densetsu and apply the English translation/new Alucard sprite patch. It seems like all I would need to do would be to lift pins 9 and 10 and switch them. When I split the translated file it says the prg and chr roms are 256k. Seems like I shoul...

If one electrolytic capacitor is gone, usually you need to replace all the rest too.

Given your symptoms, especially the 0.47µF C1 off the Famicom's reset button.
Awesome, thanks for the tip. I'll just go ahead and replace the rest.

AV Famicom Reset Button Freezes Console

I figured if anyone could figure this out it would be the people here. I have an AV Famicom that had a NES power supply plugged into it. The power filter cap was bulged and I replaced it along with the power regulator for good measure. It is still having a couple of issues though. It takes about 3 s...
