I can't get it to work either. Word on the street is that it just doesn't work on real hardware.

Weirdly enough, the replacement cart connector I got only works 100% if you don't push the cartridge down. I don't get it either.

It needs to be said that with a custom board layout there's just enough room inside a SNES cart for the ROMs to be socketed.

Existing boards just need way too much effort, as anything bigger then 1MB needs a crapload of rewiring.

There's something wrong with the rip for King Of Kings(Namco)- in song 3 (which is the overworld map music I guess) part of the melody is missing.

I don't get why someone hasn't made any ReproPak-style cart boards for the SNES yet. Something like that would really make things a hell of a lot easier.

As far as I know, FF1+2 hasn't been translated properly and the translation patches for FF1 and FF2 can't simply be joined together as there were significant changes to the code, particularly involving saving. It would be AWESOME to see a proper working patch for FF1+2, but I'm not really holding my...

NESes that are actually, unfixably broken are very, very few and far between. Sure, the cart connector wears out all the time, but it's rare for the actual motherboard to conk out.

I've never been able to find a working ROM (much less the original IPS patch) of this hack. It honestly might be an aborted project.

Maybe he somehow accidentally used the PAL program ROM? Because that's exactly how the PAL ROM behaves in emulators- the music no longer touches the AY chip, but some of the sound effects still do.

That really sucks. When I tried building a copy, it wouldn't start AT ALL.

So why does it even work in NESTopia? I assumed that since it worked there it would work on the real thing...

Well, I just dropped the ROMs straight in, crossed my fingers and it worked! The NES-BTR board uses totally standard EPROM pinouts.

If only getting the sound to work was this easy....

Welp, I think I found TKROM-01 in one game. Too bad it's Crystalis. Anyone own this game? Can you check if has a full row of pins on the edge connector?

EDIT: Also check Deja Vu.

Perhaps this is why it's so hard to find a HoneyBee-type 60-72-pin adaptor on eBay.
