Re: Battle Kid 2 - Trailer & release info. Updated 7/9/12

Noticed one more problem in the iPhone port when playing today: one time that I reopened the game, the sound didn't work. As a little detail, when I tried to adjust the volume by pressing the +/- buttons, it adjusted the ringer volume, not the game's volume as it usually does. Closing and reopening...

Re: Battle Kid 2 - Trailer & release info. Updated 7/9/12

I tried the new iPhone version on lecture break today, and here are a couple of things I noticed: - At one point the Left button on the "d-pad" got stuck. Sorry, but I have no idea how to reproduce this. - In landscape mode clicking on top of the screen takes you to retrousb.com, even though there'...

This is really cool! Is there any good Blue-tooth controllers for iPhone? It works with all iCade-compatible controllers which includes the iControlPad and the entire iCade family . I have an iCade for my iPad and am rather impressed with the quality of the controls. Here's a video of me playing BK...

Re: Battle Kid 2 - Trailer & release info. Updated 7/9/12

Battle Kid on a touch screen? Oh no... :) - The buttons in landscape mode obscure the game play, I prefer Mega Man 2 Lite's way of having the buttons on the sides. I put in a couple of days working to improve touch controls for version 1.1. I've rewritten my touch routines to be more tolerant of er...

Re: Battle Kid 2 - Trailer & release info. Updated 7/9/12

- Nearest-point filtering in the landscape mode looks kind of crappy, especially in text parts. Maybe it's a lesser of two evils when compared to bilinear filtering, though... mikejmoffitt and I agree that perhaps the best compromise in this case is to blow it up to x2 using point sampling and then...

Re: Battle Kid 2 - Trailer & release info. Updated 7/9/12

Battle Kid on a touch screen? Oh no... :) Bluetooth controls are also available, and that's my preferred way to play. I've surprised myself with how proficient I've become with the touch controls in portrait mode, though. Some criticism: - Still slight stuttering on the audio from time to time. - N...

Re: Battle Kid 2 - Trailer & release info. Updated 7/9/12

I wanted to quickly announce here that I have, with Sivak's permission, made the new Battle Kid 2: Mountain of Torment Demo available on Apple's App Store. It's a free download for any iPad, iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 5 or later. View Battle Kid 2 Lite on the App Store The app features the lat...

To avoid trouble, get a USB EPROM programmer, because the parallel port ones are a pain to get working sometimes, especially considering that parallel ports are becoming quite uncommon. Beware that some programmers are powered by a USB cable, but still need a parallel port connection to work. I bou...

If someone wants to figure out the rights, I'm down

And that is in fact being done for another game in which Shiru was involved . It's just that the licensing for Alter Ego is less clear, it being a port of someone else's game and all. If there's anyone who'd like to clarify and negotiate the rights, I'm down to give Alter Ego the Zooming Secretary ...

Re: iOS version now available

Perhaps I should start a separate thread to propose that API? It would have to be something homebrew authors would actually consider supporting. Yeah it's probably not worth the effort right now. I would wait for some homebrew author to pick up the idea first. BTW why no acceloremeter support in th...

Macifom on iOS

You could take a look at the source code for Macifom. http://code.google.com/p/macifom/ As the developer of Macifom, I would have to agree. It doesn't take more than a few hours to get the desktop code base working on iOS. I have my own port to iOS that I use to publish NES games on the App Store (...

That and possibly support for other control methods more suited to a flat touch screen, such as Zapper support and tablet controller support. (Is the Oeka Kids tablet documented anywhere beyond here ?) Zapper support would be cute, though in practice it might be frustrating as your hand would obscu...

Re: iOS version now available

How about a landscape mode? In case more people start to get interested in having their homebrews "ported" to iOS, there are couple of more possible features that could be useful with small changes to the games: - Game Center support (achievements, etc) - Audio could be played back using MP3/whatev...

Re: iOS version now available

Tried it out, cool! Sound did seem a little bit choppy at times though (nothing too drastic, using iPhone 4). There's definitely room for improvement in the current iOS build of Macifom. For performance-related reasons I'm not using the sync-to-sound approach I do on the desktop, which is why you'l...

iOS version now available

For those who are interested, I used an optimized version of my Macifom emulator to put this game (which I adore!) on the iOS App Store. It's free, of course. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/zooming-secretary/id526243966 If anyone else would like to get their homebrews up on the Store, please PM me.
