Re: FCEUX and Prince of Persia

Okay, i understand now how this bug works on standard games:
When sprite appears at first 8 left pixels, it must be cleared, but this doesn't happen.

But "Prince of Persia" shouldn't have character sprite at first 8 pixels.
I guess this is game bug, but it was hidden until it meets FCEUX bug:

FCAV test record is here Eliminator Boat Duel is buzzing $C000 is buzzing $8000 is silent (sometimes after restart it have graphical garbage) Nintendulator, nestopia, fceux, and even old nnnesterj and virtuanes pass this test same way as hardware, but rocknes have silence on both (but buzzing on boa...

Re: APU behavior (Eliminator Boat Duel)

The game enables the DMC channel without ever writing to $4012/$4013 to initialize those registers. Then it keeps writing to $4015 (once per frame) with the DMC enabled flag set. If I initialize those values with $C000 and 1 (which are their minimum respective values normally), a buzzing sound can ...

APU behavior (Eliminator Boat Duel)

Hi nesdev. "Eliminator Boat Duel (USA).nes" must have buzz sound on power-on, you can hear it on some emulators (nintendulator, nestopia, fceux, rocknes for example) I remember it was present on real hardware but need to re-test it again on famicom some day. Strange, but most of top-accurate NES emu...

Re: Nintendulator 0.980

True PAL Famiclones (with official PAL NES timings) exists, but they're very rare . I know only one , it have: UMC UA6540 (CPU) UMC UA6541 (PPU) PAL famiclones with dendy-like timings were more widespread 6527P+6538, TA-03NP1+TA-02NP, T1818P, UM6561(AF,BF,CF,F)-2 as well, as NTSC-famiclones 6527+65...

Re: Nintendulator 0.980

Yes, "Hybrid" mode is correct technically-speaking, but "Dendy" mode is most common name for this timing, it happens by historical reasons. Most emulators marks it as dendy (including CPU/PPU variables names in source codes, etc). Is it good or bad?... doesn't really matter for now. Too late to chan...

Re: Nintendulator 0.980

Maybe better to rename "Hybrid" to "Dendy" mode?
to match same naming with another emulators (mesen, punes, fceux, bizhawk, nestopia, nintaco)
Only nintendulator name this timing as "Hybrid".
P.S:
first string of "readme.txt" is still "Nintendulator 0.970" in lastest stable 0.980 release.
