Re: Has anyone solved the cause of the vertical bar on SNES'
Sorry for the bump, I just want to apologize for the rude posts I made. That was uncalled for and wrong. On my system I actually have a game-specific vertical bar. Playing final fantasy 4 on my sd2snes in rgb I get this bar on the left that's fainter and wider but still strong enough to annoy me. Ot...

Re: RGB output from composite PPU
Nice Drakon! But why do you use hot glue on that cable (by the contact)? Wouldn't it be better to use heat shrink tubing instead? You can buy it dirty cheap at: http://dx.com/p/1m-black-heat-shrink-tubing-five-size-pack-0-8-1-5-2-5-3-5-4-5mm-23450 Thanks for the tip. This is a personal system I bui...

Re: Megaman X2 on Rockman X3 PCB
Thank god I'm not a fan of x2/3, sounds like a pain. Meh, it's not really any worse than any other repro, other than the SMD soldering. I just wish the USA versions of MMX2/3 weren't so frakking expensive, they're pretty much the only 2 retail titles still on my wish list to collect, but I have no ...

Re: RGB output from composite PPU
I'd love to see how you'd get it to fit. I can't wait to get my hands on the nes 2 / av famicom adapters.mikejmoffitt wrote:Ordered one. Hyped. Going to try to cram it into an original Famicom.

Re: RGB output from composite PPU
Personally I'd rather get rgb and use an external rgb to component converter.hyarion wrote:Looks like someone took the idea and put it in a need little package ready to be ordered.
There are still rooms for improvements though, like configurable palettes, component output etc.

Re: Gameboy Devcart Version 3
Made the case a little nicer. Also used a smaller switch that lets me use flash chips up to 512k instead of 256k like the old switch. http://i.imgur.com/u0IJ1go.jpg http://i.imgur.com/N15ufaA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/VpBNgIw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JC8XuNK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/n1Gvllh.jpg http://i.im...

Re: Removing a game menu need help
Spikeman managed to disable the menu for now. The author of this romhack doesn't test it on real hardware he always intended it to be emulator only.

Removing a game menu need help
This type of romhack is out of my league. Here's what I'm trying to do... I made a hardware cartridge of the megaman 4 minus infinity romhack. The game runs fine start to finish with a couple of very minor bugs. One of the bugs is some of the ending credits don't draw right...not a huge deal, it's t...

Re: External audio on Toploader NES with PowerPak mod
Assuming an original famicom and not the AV (where I don't know), the powerpak is probably biasing the 2A03 audio output too far from normal. If you look at the audio portion of the schematic (http://nesdev.com/Ntd_8bit.jpg, top right corner), the 100kΩ resistor self-biases the inverter to be an am...

Re: Need help removing colour emphasis from roms
After using spikeman romhacking + game genie codes I got to the spot in cossack stage 3 with color emphasis. I sent spikeman the savestate, he found the data, and it's changed. I wound up changing the rising / falling water from emphasis to grayscale. In the brightman stage the areas that you can't ...

Re: Need help removing colour emphasis from roms
No way these $2001 writes could be filtered with some added hardware so that the top 3 bits were never set? D7 to PPU = D7 from CPU AND (address lines to PPU aren't 001)? That would be a cool device if it's not a pain to make. For now I'm content with romhacking. Yesterday I mentioned this to spike...
