Re: 6 color palette, looking for advice.
Hey Macbee! Those two examples are very impressive, even if they are just demos the potential is there. Hi! Well, I also see great potential in this technique. However, it is quite controversial and disliked by many people, so I think it's important to allow flickering graphics to be turned on and ...

Re: 6 color palette, looking for advice.
Guy from Lucky Penguin here! After numerous tests, I have come to the conclusion that it is perfectly possible to create beautiful static screens with flickering graphics and colors on 60Hz displays (I have never tested these effects on 50Hz screens, but I imagine it would look quite unpleasant). I ...

Re: Best way to paste graphics into YY-CHR?
I was using a PC that wasn't mine.
So I quickly installed YY and IrfanView, just to capture the screens and post them here.

Re: Best way to paste graphics into YY-CHR?
I feel your pain, man! But a few years ago, I found the solution to paste images into YY without spending a long time correcting them (I was almost going crazy with how the images looked when pasted). The secret is to use the program IrfanView before pasting the image into YY-CHR. ==================...

The idea is excellent and this can be very useful to NES artists.
Right now I'm not doing stuff related to NES - however I'm downloading Windows version to take a look!

Re: Creating a Widescreen (16:9) NES-like Music Video
What happened to this project? I was very curious to see the results since NES on widescreen is a subject that interest me a lot. Macbee has made some demos using the full NES resolution, but made it so graphics optimized for widescreen, so it will look good on wide displays, but will appear stretch...

Re: Using claymation instead of pixel art for a NES game.
@Macbee, i want to make a Harvest Moon with combat options (like rune factory) or an endless dungeon crawler. There is this chinese bootleg of Harvest Moon for the NES. Which tools you use for the conversions? (blob and bad mr frosty). Thank you. Maybe these small, top view characters won't look ve...

Re: Using claymation instead of pixel art for a NES game.
Thanks! It's important to point that I don't know which kind of game NeoTorpor wants to make. If he's interested on a visual novel or a "game show" (like Hollywood squares or Jeopardy) *maybe* these graphics full of effects could be an interesting approach. And i did 2 more sprite conversi...

Re: Using claymation instead of pixel art for a NES game.
I know you're a talented artist, Thanks! You're very talented as well. so I'd honestly love to see a mock-up! I think that claymotion can work if you design your characters thinking on NES limitations. If someone design characters first and then try to adapt them to Nintendo it may be a disaster. I...

It's perfectly possible and - if you have the skills - they can look very good on 8-bit NES.

I don't know if it's possible to use this on your project, but I like tepples' RGB121:

Re: Lucky Penguin
Comparing the ice blocks here to the ones with flicker on, you're actually getting some in-between colours already just from the horizontal halftone patterns VS the NTSC + TV signal degradation. Just food for thought. I don't think either version looks bad at all, but the no-flicker version is defi...

Re: Lucky Penguin
I think the patterns you used combined with interlacing degrade the image quality, unfortunately. Look especially at the ice tiles and how they have a bunch of stripes through them: lucky_penguin_flicker_interlaced.jpg Now I'm wondering if there's any emulator that offers a 480i interlacing output ...
