Re: 2A03 Puritans compilation album

All tracks except for 3, 15 and 17 were recorded using my Famicom and my TNS-HFC3 cart's built-in 1/8" jack. Tracks 3, 15 and 17 were recorded using my Power Pak and my NES's AV out signal (because of incompatibility with the TNS-HFC3 hardware).

Re: namco 129 sound

If anyone wants to send me a N129 cart, I'd be happy to record some stuff from my TNS-HFC3.

EDIT: Star Wars seems to be pretty cheap on eBay. Maybe I can get my own cart. Do I have to mod it before I can record anything? I'm seeing stuff about resistors but I'm not certain I understand.

Re: FME-7 and SUBNSOFT 5B are different?

I bet testing an NSF with a Sunsoft-5A cart dongled to a TNS-HFC3 cart would be enlightening. I'd be more than happy to give this a go, but there are three main problems: first of all, there's no guarantee you'll end up with a cartridge with a 5A in it - it could be a 5B instead of a 5A, as has bee...

Re: Famicompo Mini Vol. 9

Just to clear any doubts, I too am fiercely opposed to the new "two NSFs, 5 tracks each" rule, and for the same reasons as you zzo38. That being said, there's nothing to stop you submitting several NSFs under different monikers... But that's borderline cheating. Also, one must not overlook the fact ...

Re: Famicompo Mini Vol. 9

Frankly it's pretty surprising that you haven't heard of FCM before. It's a pretty big deal in the NSF scene! This is the moment when NSF artists all around the world come together and contribute a little something to the NSF scene and listen to each other's stuff (usually during a live stream of so...

Famitracker 0.4.1 was released today, mostly containing bugfixes related to NSF export and FTM import. Grab it here!

Re: CombiNSF v0.1 -- combine multiple .NSF to one .NSF file

I'm afraid I know bugger all about any sort of programming, so I wouldn't be able to help. :<

I can tell you the files I need to merge use bankswitching and that they have the NTSC flag only (no dual NSFs). That's all I can say, I'm afraid. I am but a musician...

I totally need a version of this that'll let me combine VRC6 NSFs! :o

Is there any way around the FDS RAM usage?

Re: NSF PCM technique (via Deflemask)

Heck, I like it so much I spent hundreds of dollars to get myself a NTSC NES, a PAL NES, two Famicoms, a Power Pak, a TNS-HFC3 and one copy of every expansion chip to ensure I get as authentic a sound as possible when I play my tunes back. Sounds cool - would you mind how do you replay NSFs with th...

Re: NSF PCM technique (via Deflemask)

I'm just bored with people getting on their high horses, telling me that I do what I love to do for the wrong reasons . I'm not talking about Bregalad specifically here; this isn't a personal attack in any way, just an observation that I've made over the 5-6 years that I've been doing this. For exam...

Somehow I suspect you're being a prick on purpose. I suppose I'll go back to lurking if this is how this community reacts to free speech.

Re: DefleMask 8

The one feature that could potentially make Deflemask more attractive than Famitracker for NSFs is the fact that Deflemask lets you use 7-bit PCM, while Famitracker is limited to DPCM. Apparently PCM is the thing that causes Deflemask NSFs not to function with NSFPlay et al. though. :p Yeah Famitrac...

Re: NSF PCM technique (via Deflemask)

Here's a clip of multi-expansion being done live on hardware: Part 1 Part 2 The DJ in the video is actually Robokabuto himself. What's more, he used a YMZ-294 instead of a Sunsoft 5B. :p But that's besides the point here. As tokumaru pointed out, basically I treat the NES/Famicom as I would any othe...
