Watching streamers play the game, we might need to update to communicate that better. https://img.itch.zone/aW1hZ2UvMTc3MDQ4NS8xMDQyMTA0...

Re: NESDev Weekly Graphics Challenges
Let's kick this off. Season One's genre is basic platformer. Over the next 12 weeks, these challenges will give you nearly everything you need for something on par with Loderunner, Layla, or SMB. NDGCs01wk01.png This week, we'll be designing a classic Air Baddie. Natural, mechanical, mystical? That'...

Updated OP with link to main download pack. More info on game's writeup in the included pdf. We're planning some updates between compo and cart, so feedback highly encouraged.

Re: Super Mario Bros.: Why all the floating money?
As for floating blocks and platforms (in games in general), later indie games have a tendency to draw some form of non-solid background graphic supporting them (like a hill or building), indicating that the platform is extending from the background into the player's plane. Likewise, it could be assu...

Re: Super Mario Bros.: Why all the floating money?
(And does it cost 100 coins in medical bills to revive a fainted Mario?) In Project Blue, it costs 100 credits for a charge from the defribillator. Early draft of the manual implied that it was 100 credits to bribe a guard to release you as you were being carried back to the lab off-screen (explain...

Re: Photo-Sensitive Epilepsy Safe NES/SNES Emulation?
Does Mesen handle scripts like FCEUX does?
Would something like this even be possible to tackle via scripts?
Is it common or possible for emulators to display data at a delay from when it's processing it?

Regarding paper products, INL does those in house, and the files have long been supplied, so that shouldn't be a hold up.

Re: 2019 NESDev Compo RESULTS
Vol. 4 actually has a number of updates/reissues from some earlier volumes. I should have its itch page up soonish. Meanwhile, check out the first three volumes at action53.itch.io if you haven't come across them yet.

Re: Honest box art
I addressed this briefly in my Project Blue interview for VGS . ... the world being depicted is much larger than as seen through the lens of the gameplay screen, which very well might be only one of many abstracted interpretations of it. I wasn't quite thinking about thematic interpretations of pure...

Re: Late 1980s / Early 1990s Memphis Style in NES Games
That Action Replay case is dead-on. I didn't learn that this aesthetic was named after the Memphis design group until researching for a53. Previously I had just called it the Saved by the Bell look. On that note, https://partytimehexcellent.itch.io/electronic-sweet-n-fun-fortune-teller hits some fam...
