Re: Mesen-S - SNES Emulator

Guess my old .srm/.rtc were the issue. Deleted them and now it works for the japanese version of the game. Thanks!
The translation still doesn't boot (though creates .srm and .rtc files) but then again it was expanded and most likely isn't supported yet because of its mapping.

Re: Mesen-S - SNES Emulator

I'm afraid but SPC-7110 emulation still is not working properly, at least for Tengai Makyou Zero (not the translation, since that doesn't even boot yet).
The RTC fails to verify upon first time check. :( Or was RTC not even implemented yet?

Re: Hardware-implementable emulator inaccuracies

Agree. I see no point in doing such thing unless it's for your own hobby to make a FPGA based console supporting broken games.

Re: Mesen-S - SNES Emulator

You're right. I might have gotten mixed it up. As far as SMW hacks goes, don't emulate it like ZSNES. Accuaracy > Bad programming. I really like Mesen-S so far but it shouldn't aim too much on supporting broken games at all. If they don't work on real hardware they certainly shouldn't be allowed to ...

Re: Mesen-S - SNES Emulator

Nice, thanks! As for RAM, there's quite a few games using 512K, such as: Dezaemon Pebble Beach no Hatou - Tournament Edition (SA-1) Marvelous (SA-1) Harukanaru Augusta 3 (SA-1) maybe more. :P Also, the hacks I've tested are mainly SMW hacks: https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=14812 h...

Re: Mesen - NES Emulator

Thanks!
What if you only calculate the CRC if someone opens the log window to have it display? This shouldn't interfer with ROM loading too much, I think.
Otherwise I'd just remove the CRC check completely since the NES didn't have any checksum anyway. At least not that I know. :P

Re: I wrote up a "brief" explainer on SNES cartridges

That's what I thought to since I accidentally had 74'257 /OE connected to SNES /OE at the very first while EPROM /OE was connected to 74'139 1Y3 and /CE GNDed. Maybe that was my mistake but either way. Using the schematic above has worked for me for years, too. :P If it works for you as well, no rea...

Re: I wrote up a "brief" explainer on SNES cartridges

That's exactly the issue. 74'139 1Y3 (pin 7) is not connected to the 27C322/CE nor /OE line at all as it will cause conflicts between ROM and RAM (at least it did for me with some SRAM games). 27C322 /CE and /OE are both to be connected to GND since the Multiplexers (74'257) /OE inputs (pin 15) are ...

Re: Mesen-S - SNES Emulator

Will you ever add support for SPC7110 chip?
Momotarou Densetsu Happy nor Tengai Makyou Zero (original files) are not working yet.

Also noticed, games that have 1024KB of SRAM crash. Though it's probably hacks only, still worth mentioning.

Re: I wrote up a "brief" explainer on SNES cartridges

It's funny how most, if not all, schematics of the 74'139 for LoROM are actually partly wrong. 74'139 Pin 7 (1Y3) is actually an /OE output but it's not connected to the EPROM at all. Instead it is connected to either the /OE inputs of the 74'257 or 74'245, depending what one uses to connect a 27C32...

Re: Mesen - NES Emulator

Suggestion: If one maximizew the emulator window, the position is not saved after restarting. Any chance to keep the window maximized? Also, in the log window it displays CRC32 of PRG alone but not of CHR alone instead it's combined PRG+CHR. Can you add single CHR CRC32 as well? :) Maybe add board t...

Re: Akira TC0190 questions

As for pin 31 and 35, they're tied to GND as seen here:
http://bootgod.dyndns.org:7777/profile.php?id=1561

I'm testing my repros using the original Famicom console but dumping the cart using sanni's carteader so I can compare the CRC of PRG and CHR with FamiROM to make sure all bytes are equal.

Re: making a wai wai repro

Pin 3 and 4 of VRC are different with some mappers/boards.
Just compare your board on the wiki with what the original board is and wire them accordingly.

Re: Akira TC0190 questions

Digging up this topic again because I'm having issues myself. I have done Akira carts using Akira as a donor just fine but I have a Takeshi no Sengoku Fuuunji now and no matter what I do, the PRG ROM is never dumps correct. CHR does though (I removed the 74'245 and reconneced PPU D0-D7 to CHR D0-D7...
