Re: Replacement Graphics in Shonumi's Game Boy Enhanced

My unofficial build is the last update of the custom-gfx-hd branch complied for people that don't know how to compile. It works fine for me on most regular GB games. GBC games don't work at all for BGs, and sprites for GBC won't load without using the manifest file. I remember now some games won't l...

Re: Replacement Graphics in Shonumi's Game Boy Enhanced

Which version are you using tcaudilllg? I posted an unofficial build earlier in the thread using of the latest source code before Shonumi moved on to the GBE+ emulator that supports GBA. I tested this build with the English versions of the SaGa series (Final Fantasy Legend) and the original Japanese...

Re: Please try my NES emulator HDNes

The PPU can only hold the map data upto 2 screen wide and it is up to the program to load new data and overwrite the old as the screen scroll. So the scroll values inside the PPU alone is not enough to determine the real scroll value. The best bet is to find the scroll values directly from RAM and ...

Re: Please try my NES emulator HDNes

A method for parallax scrolling. I don't know how the emulator renders the frame but I was thinking today about how to implement parallax scrolling on solid color backgrounds or any background in general. Using PPUSCROLL as the base we can determine where the camera is. Because that is default NES b...

Re: Please try my NES emulator HDNes

My idea is similar to a lua script for FCEUX. Hitbox drawing But instead of hitboxes it would be metasprites. I don't know how it works exactly because I'm not a programmer but it might be possible with your scripting system mkwong. Good luck with this however you decide to implement your alternate ...

Re: Please try my NES emulator HDNes

An alternate idea is to have it possible to mark tiles that are next to each other as a whole. Mario standing is 8 tiles total (2x4) but instead of replacing each tile by itself it replaces it as a whole 64x128 sprite (@ 4x). And then multiple tiles that are used twice can be replaced as well becaus...

Re: Please try my NES emulator HDNes

Yes the slowdown is still there with the mouse over the window. It's a 50% slowdown now. Frame rate is cut from 60fps to 30. No dumping or loading graphics just playing it at 4x. 1x is a 5-10fps slowdown and 2x is a 10-15fps loss. I'm thinking it's a Windows 8 (and hence Windows Technical Preview) ...

GGuy, do you still has that problem with the new release? Yes the slowdown is still there with the mouse over the window. It's a 50% slowdown now. Frame rate is cut from 60fps to 30. Re: Replacement Graphics in Shonumi's Game Boy Enhanced

I see. Well I guess I am going to stick with the noise chr replacement thing I came up with then. I just need the flashing to work and then I'm set to release graphic packs.

Re: Replacement Graphics in Shonumi's Game Boy Enhanced

Yay I helped fix something! Hopefully that is also the solution to palette shifting aka color cycling (or whatever it is... bank switching?) sprites when damaged or getting the star in Super Mario Land 2 as well as screen fading on tiles that is used on screen changes. Welcome DragonDePlatino! I wou...

Re: HDNes - Mega Man III (4x graphics work)

Excellent work. It's exciting to see HDNes used to it's full potential. If you need help dumping or assembling sheets let me know. I've been doing it for a good long while now. I can also work out the hex codes for music replacement if you need that as well.

Re: Replacement Graphics in Shonumi's Game Boy Enhanced

Oh yeah Shonumi the duplicate tile issue I was talking about is the solid color one and duplicate tiles in the CHR that are the exact same but used elsewhere in the game. I'm not sure if the door and leg thing still happens with Metroid II since that was awhile ago and I believe you changed the hash...

Re: Replacement Graphics in Shonumi's Game Boy Enhanced

Here is a proof of concept for pack releases. It's very hacky. IPS patching random pixel noise data over the CHR to ensure all tiles have a unique hash resulting in garbage data if played without loaded sprites. However with the new custom tiles it works as intended. Working with it graphically to m...

Re: Replacement Graphics in Shonumi's Game Boy Enhanced

I've been working with games on GBE for quite awhile now. Yesterday I found a way around the duplicate tile problem but it's pretty much a chr hack. It works well enough though. I've also edited the source to package everything into a nice little way for releases. There are some glaring issues that ...

Re: Please try my NES emulator HDNes

GGuy, Please check if the slow down problem still exists. Thanks. Yes the problem is still there. Fraps reports an drop of 10-20 FPS when the mouse cursor is over the game window (even though it's no longer being drawn). It dips more when the mouse is moved around within the window. It's easy to se...
