Is this the HRES I've been contemplating about?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_rCGmTrLsk This seems to be a ROM hack of SMB1 for an overclocked NES; more like a fantasy console. Where is its datasheet? I actually have a ROM like this (some old version), and I'm not sure how the heck these extra addons have been made. But the graphics and every...

Has anyone made a Discord server for NesDev?

I've been wondering what if NesDev goes down. I mean, it has been a commonly speculated possibility. But this is far more concerning than I thought considering the recent COPPA and YouTube event; yet another SOPAstic method of the big guys to destroy the internet and the fandoms. Discord could be a ...

Re: What happened to the Nesdev phpBB theme?!?!

Looks very 2010-ish to me. I actually like it. Reminds me of the good old days of phpBB back when I used to host forums. I thought that a revival of nesdev.com has happened as there was one time recently during which it was down. I was glad that it is up when I opened it.

Re: Need help finding a C++ IDE for Windows XP under MIT lic

Found something! Ultimate++ https://www.ultimatepp.org This will be my home. However, the latest version had some error about being unable to open collect2.exe. So I downloaded an old portable version and it works great! The only problem is that the old version doesn't have a LLVM/Clang configuratio...

Need help finding a C++ IDE for Windows XP under MIT license

Hello. I've been looking for a set of C++ tools for making GUI apps such as my own version of MS Paint, Sound Recorder, etc. for the purposes of retro enthusiasm, nostalgia, preserving and saving old tech with great utilities such as right-click media converters I've always needed as a Windows XP ki...

Re: Nova the Squirrel 2 (WIP)

Wow! Amazing stuff! Hey, if I make a Let's Play off of this, is it possible that my video (and voice and logo and everything in it) doesn't get "stained" with the GPL license? We've already talked about GPL and what viral/staining means, but this is a specific question. I'd love to make an...

Re: How can we keep our NES development resources around?

If everything fails from those GitHub stuff, just use a web-scrapping algorithm! I think that Chrome has one of such plugins. I forgot how it's named. Should work on Opera considering that today's Opera has Chrome's guts. I think you should start working on the web-scrapping approach now. I cannot h...

Re: How can we keep our NES development resources around?

I know some MySQL. A system administrator of forums.nesdev.com could do a full extraction of the topics, posts, forums, categories, public user profile data, avatars, uploads, etc., and export all of that into some sort of an XML/JSON file for each "page" (category view, (sub)forum view, t...

My Battle City Hack Project (WIP)

So, I've downloaded the source code of my childhood game Battle City and I hope to warm myself up for 6502 stuff. Here are the features I am currently working on: Players start with 5 lives If a player gets shot by an enemy while having more than one life, they lose a life, but instead of respawning...

Re: I remixed Vigilante Ninja 2 Title Screen in MuseScore 3

Never heard of "Extrude" used to mean anything other than squeezing a mixture out of a shaped hole, or the equivalent operation in 3d modeling. I coined the term in 2012 on deviantART when turning a Sonic fan character into an original character and starting a new worldbuilding project. I...

Re: I remixed Vigilante Ninja 2 Title Screen in MuseScore 3

I'm glad you like it! :D I have some questions Am I allowed to allow everyone to the OGG download on SoundCloud? May I also allow downloads to the score/MIDI/project file? And how far may I go with using this new style that I've made in order to "Extrude" it into original content? "Ex...

Please check it out! I loved the game so much and the music didn't let me sleep! XD So, I've basically orchestrated it for strings.

Has anyone tried Parsec (couch gaming online experience)?

Hello. I have been looking for a way to play multiplayer games without wrecking my system with Hamachi, port forwarding, installing virusy stuff, listening to boring dubstep Bandicam/HyperCam Notepad tutorials with "the umm" speech only to await me with a complete disappointment of solutio...

Re: Battle City Disassembly

This is why everyone should use forum attachments, when possible. I did a search for the filename, and managed to find a working link here: http://griever.magicteam.net/files/BC_Source_Int.rar Here is the Battle City sound engine, that was easier to find. http://magicteam.net/index.php?page=other A...
