Re: Why did SNES Japan-only games have much better graphics than localized games?
Responding to the original point, I think it's partly confirmation bias with ignoring the games we did get that looked great. But another factor of Japan-only games seemingly having better visuals is the tendency to not localize late-era games, which pushed what the SFC was capable of. Chaos Seed, E...

Re: Want a SNESDev Festival?
I think any sort of event that encourages people to make more SNES homebrew is a pretty good idea, so I don't see why not.
There are a lot of cool things you can do with the hardware after all.

Re: Nintendo "Gigaleak"
The initial breach happened in 2018, and all of these leaks that showed up for download are simply resulting from that breach; So Nintendo probably knows/expects more is coming, they just can't do anything about it.

Re: Change my username?
If it's no trouble, could my username be changed to "Picto"? Much appreciated.

Re: Attemping to create Irem-esque artwork. Does it look goo
Going with Darryl here, I think it would be a lot easier to draw the character first and then make the gun to match their size. It might go faster that way, too.

Take a crack at a fully-fledged character, then we can truly judge if it fits the style or not. What you have now is a good start though. The colors are pretty nice.

Re: First Sprite Designs - Opinions?
A boss of that scale on the NES would be the coolest thing ever. I doubt it could go full-on Metal Slug, but I'd like to see where it goes. I really just don't have a clue what the design would be. Maybe adding shine would work? A bright pixel or two to represent some gleam. It's not a design, but i...

Re: First Sprite Designs - Opinions?
These all look pretty neat. Smooth animations, but not impossible within NES limits. I wouldn't be opposed to putting some sort of design on her boots, but I also think it's fine how it is—Up to you really. Her wearing a leotard already makes her arms and legs visible, kind of like Mario's overalls ...

Re: "Super Kid Icarus" - Seeking Programmer!
Nah, I've just been busy these past few days and haven't been able to follow back. I intend to work this project to completion. (Just got an offer via PM and I'm working that out now) Ideally, the engine wouldn't be literally be built from the NES version, it would just be based on it in terms of de...

"Super Kid Icarus" - Seeking Programmer!
Hey NESdev, this is my first post here. Nice to meet you. You've read the title, so you probably have a good idea of the two things comin' up... It's a classic case: The "artist without a programmer" syndrome! (but also Kid Icarus) So let's start with the latter. It's something I've been d...
