Re: Flash Cart Losing power

Your console's power supply is going bad. Get a new one.

Re: Somebody is selling my game

I would treat it as free advertising and let it be. You do have legal standing for a takedown, but not damages since you're offering the rom for free.

Re: Anguna: Scourge of the Goblin King

Set nametable tiles to black/reveal the other edge as you move, and cover the corners (+ borders if you want pixel smooth) with sprites?

You can try to use any C library. They may or may not compile with cc65. What your real problem will be is having it fast enough.

Re: MMC3 scanline counter

They're not too stupid, rather they're too specific and the handful of people able to answer don't have the will to do so. That has something to do with there already being 15,824 NES emulators.

The cvt tool on Linux should help you with the values.

Re: Creating a text box

Uh, you're all way off. Shift left preserves sign unless you overflow, which happened here. -65 * 2 = -130, which can't fit in a signed 8-bit var. Even if you think of it as *= 2, that's a positive 2, not a negative.

I'm annoyed by the constant italics theatrics. Would it annoy Oziphantom back if I wrote Apple \\e?

Re: MMC3 scanline counter

Now I'm really curious what the OP is doing implementing MMC3 counters when it's not for a NES emulator.

Just a note, -march=native means the binary will fail on any cpu lower than yours. It means "set the minimum cpu to mine exactly".

Yes, that already exists. The russian roulette cart from kickstarter with lots of voice does that.

Re: Becoming an FPGA Engineer

AFAIK there's only one model that has an open source toolchain, so if at all possible, you should target that. Otherwise you're stuck with one vendor's whims and programs, that may change, become deprecated, and with experience that doesn't transfer well to any other vendor.

Re: CHR swap in finer than 1k chunks?

If there's no existing mapper, that's not a huge problem. Planning to sell a few hundred copies? Ask the board makers for a customized mmc3/whatever, adding CHR granularity is a small change that won't double the board cost. Sharing a rom? Then you only need to modify an emulator. edit: I have no id...

Re: How should I code this?

That is totally fine and I don't see why you'd need to think of a more elegant solution. If you're strapped for memory, you can use bits in one byte instead of three bytes.
