Re: Ralph 4

I tried it out on my Everdrive N8. Everything appears to work except for sound. There's no music or sound effects at all when used on the Everdrive.

Re: Looking for beta testers

Will do, hoss. We use the Wii NES emulator for the show since our capture card only takes 480p component and not the NES's composite video, so when we would play it, I'd have to buy the ROM from you/RetroUSB or buy a cartridge ripper.

Re: Journey to Cygnus

I was under the impression that it was a special piece of hardware that allowed for those kinds of effects like an add-on. Well then. Ya learn something new every day. At any rate, the first program I'm making is a simple display of graphics. There is a single tutorial that I've managed to find that...

Re: Journey to Cygnus

I used to play lots of Gyruss back in the 80s. Good game. For some reason, people tend to dislike or feel indecisive about the game. It's my favorite space shooter game next to *Galaga*, it just desperately needs improvement. The arcade version was updated and ported to X-Box Live Arcade a few year...

Journey to Cygnus

Before I work on the Metal Gear -inspired stealth game and after making some basic programs for the NES, I want to get some simpler games made. My primary semi-long term goal is Journey to Cygnus . Currently in its pre-production, infant stage, I'm developing an on-the-rails tubular space-shooter ab...

Re: Looking for beta testers

I like what I see so far. I co-host a let's play show and we just played Rockman 4 Minus Infinity , a ROM hack by some uber-talented 6502 wizards, so we're open to playing homebrew games and ROM hacks. We'd love to play it on the show once it's completed or if the beta is presentable enough. But as ...

These screenshots really remind me of Kung-Fu for the NES in terms of art style. I like it.

Re: Looking for beta testers

I'd be interested in play-testing your game. I could also have my friend Darren test it as well since you're looking for multiple people to do it.

Re: Launching new app for homebrew developers

Pretty nifty. Unfortunately, I have no games made to actually try it out with, but I'm sure it'll be helpful for those who do.

Re: Super Russian Roulette: A New Party Game for the NES

Absolutely incredible, man. Not only has it reached the project's goal of $20,000, but it's well beyond $60,000. That's pretty damn impressive, I think. It looks like a great party game. I'd like to buy it when I can! The commercial was pretty entertaining, too. Awesome job, m8.

Re: Is a NES game able to detect if it is being emulated?

Perhaps I should rephrase: what is an "achievement" in an NES game, and what makes it "valid", and why would you want to address the validity with an anti-cheat mechanism? The key part that I'm very curious about is the NES context, specifically. Do you just mean you want to prevent people from che...

Re: Is a NES game able to detect if it is being emulated?

What do you mean by "valid achievement" on an NES game? Like I understand what this means for a platform that has achievements, since you might have an opinion that achievements earned via the built-in achievement system are competitive and/or should be meaningful, but NES doesn't connect to an out...

Re: Is a NES game able to detect if it is being emulated?

You could do what arcade games do. Put a security token of some sort on the cartridge, and have the 6502 code depend on what it outputs. In fact, run some of the game logic inside the security token. Running game logic on a separate MCU is why Bubble Bobble was emulated wrong for years until its MC...
