I guess these guys have already done the BOM calculations. Does anyone know what the actual PCB looks like, and what kind of ICs being used?

That would be absolutely amazing!! Can hardly wait!loopy wrote:That code on github is ancient, it's not compatible with the current firmware. I can put up something more current, it might take a few days though.

FDSStick (256M version) software question
Hi, I just got my FDSStick 256M version and it's working great so far. I've also used it to rip some disks using the drive adapter cable sold by http://www.tototek.com. So, everything is fine... However, since I'm mainly using linux I'm wondering if there's some open-source software for the FDSStick...

Re: Famicom AV Mod Situation in 2019
What are the jailbars synchronized to? They stay stationary on the screen. Are they occurring on each PPU /RD transition or each CPU clock transition, etc? Finding the source could lead us to new ideas. For example, if it is PPU /RD, adding a fast CMOS buffer might have potential. Another potential...

Re: Famicom AV Mod Situation in 2019
desoldering the PPU is a lot of work and risk of failure if it's not really going to help. I 100% agree -- Removing the PPU has a high risk of damaging the circuit board, ripping out barrels. It should not be attempted unless necessary. I have no data to support wrapping the PPU in foil makes any m...

Re: Famicom AV Mod Situation in 2019
That's good you got it looking good. Everyone seems to find a solution that "works for them". Unfortunately, what works for you, might not for someone else. What is the solution that works for everyone? It's best to figure out what is causing it so it can be eliminated. The video signal n...

Yes, I believe this is true for my PAL TV as well.
And I also don't care that much about RF either. Composite is better on all areas anyway.

Re: Famicom AV Mod Situation in 2019
Hi, That was alot of questions. I'll try my best to answer... :) 1. Yes! I put it between PPU VCC (pin 40) and GND (pin 20). Minus on CAP goes to GND like in a normal bypass cap setup. 1a. Yes, I ordered a huge pack from china with different values a while back. I'm guessing they're not the best ele...

Re: Famicom AV Mod Situation in 2019
Hi again! I've reached the end of round 1 when it comes to researching this. To sum it up, I've NOT been able to find the real source of the problem for the jailbars, however i have been able to remove ALL jailbars from the composite video signal. I would also like to mention that I almost have zero...

Re: Famicom AV Mod Situation in 2019
The 2sa1015 appears to be working just fine. I just made a temporary breadboard build just to test it and the image quality on my Sony PVM is actually very nice... I mean this is all looong cable lengths connected to a breadboard. I'm actually very surprised that it looks this good. @Ben: What you s...

Re: Famicom AV Mod Situation in 2019
I did a very simple mod and ended up with only very slight jailbars. ;) For an example of how slight: here's a video . I kinda feel like jailbars on a Famicom AV mod are mostly down to luck, some devices are just worse than others no matter what you do. Desoldering the PPU to apply copper tape seem...

Re: Analogue NT Mini -- Jailbreak Firmware Updates?
I'm still hoping that Kevris will revisit the NT Mini for the missing FDS support (from sdcard).... The RAM adapters are also not working properly with the NT Mini due to some missing filtering. I think Kevtris mentioned that it would be an easy fix... However, with Analogue not selling the NT Mini ...

Famicom AV Mod Situation in 2019
Hi, I've just gotten a Famicom that I would like to AV mod. This is the standard HVC-CPU-05 revision. However, I'm unsure about what mod to go for. I've read through forums all the way back to 2009 and up today and there seem to be a wide range of possible solutions, all with their own pros and cons...

Another PPU vblank / NMI question
When looking at the Ntsc_timing.png diagram it clearly states that the vblank flag is set at [241, 1]. However, when looking at sourcecode for several emulators many of those enables the vblank flag on [241, 0]. Some emulators also delays the NMI one PPU cycle after setting the vblank flag. Are most...

Re: PPU operations when rendering is disabled...
I'd say "replace" or "overwrite", but yes. So, what sprite data is actually fetched on scanline 261? The last sprite evaluation was done on line 239, so does that mean that the result from this is still in the secondary OAM and the eight sprite output modules? (as the secondary ...
