Re: Permadeath in games

a game the scope of zelda with perma death would be immensely frustrating in my opinion. a better option might be a special ending for people who can win in one life, or something. even better might be having certain areas that need to be beaten entirely with one life before moving on to the next ar...

Re: What is too politically toxic?

LOL, omg... okay, i guess. you realize that when bregalad was using the word 'fascist' it was in direct response to something somebody else said right? he even quoted the person first and proclaimed it was EXACTLY what I find absolutely horrendeous and politically toxic. it is bregalad who accused p...

Re: What is too politically toxic?

One person described the idea of imposing ones ideas on others as a fascist approach, which is correct by some definitions of the word. i'm really sick of pointing this out, but NOBODY IN THIS THREAD ATTEMPTED TO IMPOSE IDEAS ON OTHERS. NOBODY. if you actually read the quote that got called fascist...

Re: What is too politically toxic?

the only reason i commented at all was to make it clear to tepples that not everybody felt that way.

i regret it. should have just pm'ed him rather than constantly have to defend my utterly milquetoast critique.

Re: What is too politically toxic?

Perhaps the word "fascist" was a bit ill-judged, but it's fairly clear what point he was trying to emphasize. Taking offense instead of considering his point is not going to result in a productive discussion. Many of the responses to him have been snide, mocking and disingenuous; this is not warran...

Re: What is too politically toxic?

whatever one can say about the comments regarding bregalad, one thing you can't do is change the order of events. he called somebody a fascist, it was out of line. you may not think the responses were as measured as i do, but we can all agree that they were in response to him fulfilling godwin's law...

Re: What is too politically toxic?

I just wanted to point out that the attacks on him has no value in a healthy discussion and lol, nobody 'attacked' bregalad. there were two minor comments. mine basically was saying i don't think he's a good judge of what constitutes political toxicity. nothing more, nothing less. that's hardly an ...

Re: What is too politically toxic?

nobody is forcing anybody to do anything. forcing somebody to agree with you is impossible anyway. if you read "exactly what i find to be politically toxic" you'll see that the quote in question specifically states that whatever language you'll use is up to you. if you want to explain how that's fas...

Re: What is too politically toxic?

I just meant that Nocash said something like "People with opinion A is fine as long as they don't force it on other people and respect opinion B". Then Bregalad basically pointed out: "That goes for people of opinion B as well" LOL, no he said that people who disagreed with him are 'politically tox...

Re: What is too politically toxic?

tepples i will just say i really hope you're not taking any advice from bregalad on what constitutes toxicity. this forum is a strange place. it's the only one i've ever seen where people are allowed to push around the moderators and get away with it. my advice to you, tepples, is to have confidence...

Re: NESMaker reviews?

yeah, i dunno... i don't read the quoted portion as being negative at all really. it seems to me like he's bemoaning the fact that 'nerd culture' has basically become co-opted and commercialized. these days, merely enjoying a huge budget movie franchise is enough to qualify you as a nerd... in my op...

Re: Project Blue: Full version news thread

Thanks for listening!

I'm not planning on doing an NSF release but if it's easy to compile I'd consider it.

In other news we are planning on going live with our Kickstarter tomorrow (10/17) at 10 AM EST.
