Re: The White Room NES Homebrew

Here is a story idea to keep you thinking! The place is a lab where kids are separated from humankind and the outside world and are experimented on [/b] I started a project with a similar concept a few years back. My idea puts you as the kid (your choice between Trevor or Trina) exploring your hous...

Re: nes exp. port connector 3d model (files included)

I found these pins earlier today while searching for "bifurcated contact". I'm not sure how legit it is because there a few different websites that are strangely similar claiming to have them in stock. These happen to be the cheapest. An inquiry on bulk rates would be necessary as $13 for 50 pins is...

Re: nes exp. port connector 3d model (files included)

Looking forward to giving this a try. I was thinking of trying to do something similar but with these connectors. https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/te-connectivity-amp-connectors/2329497-2/9841712?s=N4IgTCBcDa4MxgJwBZEHYC0YAEIC6AvkA Thanks for sharing the link. nes exp. port connector 3d model (files included)

This weekend I designed a connector for the nes expansion port. It's printed in PLA with a 0.2mm nozzle and 0.1mm layer height. I think a resin printer would be better suited for the small pin slots but my fdm printer worked well. The pins were taken from an ISA slot. A few of them are a tad crooked...

Re: Famicom Expansion Port Multiplexer

Yes I am aware of the deeper sockets, thanks anyhow for the head's up. I plan on modding standard db15 connectors for testing. I found these neo geo controller replacement cables which show all 15 wires are present. They also have cable strain relief is a nice addition. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cont...

Re: Famicom Expansion Port Multiplexer

Ahh okay, that makes sense now. Looking at the schematics on the Console5 website and Enri's page on the keyboard, the OUT2-0 lines do not have pull-up resistors in either the console or name brand peripherals. Some third party controllers do though. Based on what I've learned over the past few hour...

Re: Famicom Expansion Port Multiplexer

... although now that I'm thinking on this a little more carefully, I think you need pullups all over the place before your '244s inputs. For what it's worth, after reading a few websites, it seems like as long as the CMOS input is driven by another gate i should be okay. Unless this is specific to...

Re: Famicom Expansion Port Multiplexer

I didn't have a personal use for the /IRQ line but I figured I'd add it for the sake of completeness. So if I understand correctly, the sound pin is actually an output and not an input? The idea behind this circuit started when I wanted to have both the family basic keyboard and gameboy printer conn...

Famicom Expansion Port Multiplexer

=====UPDATED V2 schematic and logisim files===== - /IRQ circuitry removed - changed circuit to handle positive idle clock lines - added pull-up resistors to peripheral $4017 data lines I've been playing with the idea of having multiple peripherals connected to the famicom expansion port and came up ...

Re: NES Gameboy Printer Projects

I bought 38mm (1.5") thermal paper for this project and it works without issue. You just have to spool out 30' or so at a time and roll it up to fit in the printer. Do not buy official gameboy printer paper since the thermal reactive chemical has neutralized by now and will not work. If anyone finds...

NES Gameboy Printer Projects

I've been working on interfacing the gameboy printer with the NES. Below you will find some code and a rom of my work thus far. The code contains details on how to make the interface cable so please have a look. The printer engine is at the bottom of the code. The rom is an ascii art generator. In t...

fds drive schematics

Since I couldn't find these anywhere on the internet I decided to draw some up. I was working on a 3206 write mod and noticed some differences between that pcb and a 7201 pcb. Most notably are some transistors and passive components missing around the magnetic head connector. The boards seem to have...

Re: FCEUX famicom expansion port IO to parallel port on pc?

Thanks for the responses everyone. If I can find some time this weekend I'll break out the Win98 laptop and see if I can get inpout32 working.

I've never done work like this before. Can I modify an external file or do I need to download the fceux source and rebuild it with my changes?

FCEUX famicom expansion port IO to parallel port on pc?

Is it possible to place $4016 out0-2 lines and $4017 D0-D4 on the parallel port of a pc? If so, how would I go about doing this? I'm in the middle of some hardware design and it would make testing much easier if I didn't have to reflash an EEPROM for every test.
