Re: Street Fighter II (mapper 189) overview
I have some others: https://imgur.com/a/Hre0gvR Some comments: I have owned a few "Yoko"-branded copies of both Street & Master Fighter II and they were always like #2, never ever owned or known anyone that had a copy like #3. I suspect #5 is like the first cartridge in the above imgur post. #6 shou...

Re: Recca cart authenticity
Why would people fake Recca carts specifically, and take so much care for the board to appear to be a Nintendo board, and solder a genuine MMC3 on it ?! I mean is this game extremely researched by collectors, expensive, or anything ? And, the weirdest of all, why bother creating a fake TSROM board,...

1,2,3 are all correct.

ICB14 and ICB15 are shorted together due to the huge soldering mess.

CSM04048N Speech chip
Not a particularly interesting topic but I figured I would post what was gathered so far somewhere. In past october, three educational cartridges for a Sunsonic famiclone were dumped. One of them had a large "Human Voice" on the cover. To everyone's surprise, it did not lie . Another nearly identica...

Re: Broken PPUs/CPUs from China
I bet these just comes from an inventory of chips that did not pass QC. These just passed hands throughout the years but the information that they were all defective in some ways did not at some point. As a semi-related story, Team-Europe recently found a console that used a partially defective flas...

KS7001 for NROM games (observed in a LB35 copy).

Re: Wanted PCBs for testing
Top left on 7. is the YUNG-08 SMB2j port which is dumped (even with an alternate dump). It's just missing one logic chip, likely the latch used for protection which has been disabled in some cartridges.

Re: Super Mario Bros 3 / Kaiser KS 202 chip
I doubt you can make it at less than US$50 if you go by the agent route, unless you choose surface mail (if they even offer this option). But if you ask someone in Taiwan you know, maybe you can manage to get it at $40-45.

Re: Super Mario Bros 3 / Kaiser KS 202 chip
The KS202 chip is also present in the Super Mario Bros. 2 FDS port by Kaiser. Might be easier to trace it on that. I only have those poor quality photos however.

Weird pirate MMC3 PCB
While checking the original releases of the infamous Super Bros. hacks, I remembered that my two copies of the Jackie Chan one ( Super Bros. 10 ) had different PCBs. The small one revealed to be M196, like most of those hacks. However the large one, which at first was a candidate for an original pri...

Re: [fixing + analysis] JY-120 45-in-1
This ROM was the first dump of the 45-in-1 from CaH4e3. It was missing 128KB of the CHR which were taken from another ROM. The good dump is from 2006 and named 45-in-1 (JY-120A)(As) [!].Krzysiobal wrote:(…) 45-in-1 (Unl) (As) [f1].nes

Re: SUBOR SB97 - Famiclone with floppy+LPT+Keyboard
Slightly unrelated but it just occured me that the add-on PCBs (specifically, the one that has two story) has the same Bert (?) signature as a series of multicarts found in Mainland China in the early 90s, like that one.

Re: FAMI-COPY what kind of rom dumper or copy device is this
That was used to copy NROM games. It usually came with a bunch of cartridges that had EPROM windows exposed and a switch to change mirroring.
