Re: Rainbow : a WiFi cart / mapper for the NES !

I have a piece of software, which needs this to function. The terminal is completely written, it just needs the I/O: https://github.com/tschak909/platotermnes It is a PLATO terminal intended to access on-line systems like https://irata.online/ I am knee deep in several large projects at the moment, ...

Re: 8bitworkshop - online IDE now supports NES

Do NOT use bitfields in cc65 if you want any semblence of speed or code size. big big big huge no no.

Re: PLATOTERM for NES - It just needs a bit of hw engineerin

Pretty neat. It's broken in Mesen and Nintendulator, though. I can probably test it on an NES tomorrow, but when something fails on Nintendulator it's extremely likely to be the same on NES. I noticed the .NES file has CHR-ROM attached, though in the header it's set to CHR-RAM. Removing it didn't a...

Re: PLATOTERM for NES - It just needs a bit of hw engineerin

Noted. :) The reason I suggested the Raspberry Pi Zero is because: (1) low power (2) cheap (3) it's everywhere (4) it has network, and usb for keyboard and mouse. -Thom Looks great! But plato.nes does not work properly on any emulator I tried it with (Mesen, Nintendulator and FCEux). It looks like y...

PLATOTERM for NES - It just needs a bit of hw engineering!

Hey guys, A few months ago, I had asked about ways to do a bitmap mode on the NES, and the responses were quite good. As it happens, I ran across the 8-bit-workshop's NES environment he had just added, and one of the examples was for a mono-bitmap. After talking with sehugg, I managed to get the nes...

Re: Action!: an Algol-like programming language for Atari 80

If anyone is interested, this is an overview of the design of what became the ACTION! compiler, the language was originally called Micro-SPL:

Re: Action!: an Algol-like programming language for Atari 80

I used ACTION! to write a number of programs for the Atari 8-bit systems in the mid-1980s. It was, bar-none, the closest that the Atari 8-bits ever got to something resembling C, for a _very_ long time, as the C compilers for the system at the time generated really bad p-code with a ridiculous libra...

Re: CC65 linker config for MMC1 made up of lots of NROMs?

Does it work in FCEUX? If not, you probably need to have a boot stub in all the "padding" PRG banks too. MMC1 looks like it was intended to power up on its own in the "last 16K bank is at the top", but hardware testing has shown that it's not very robust. Yeah, I got it to work in FCEUX as well, by...

Re: CC65 linker config for MMC1 made up of lots of NROMs?

Yeah, I kinda figured, so I have padded it out, and it now sees it as an SJROM:

Re: CC65 linker config for MMC1 made up of lots of NROMs?

Turns out, I really do need the whole 32KB PRG space to be banked out... This is what I am using so far, and it produces a legal cart that boots up in Nestopia (fceux doesn't like it yet): MEMORY { ZP: start = $0000, size = $0100, type = rw, define = yes; HEADER: start = $0000, size = $0010, file = ...

Standard NROM-128 with 8K CHR-ROM on each.

CC65 linker config for MMC1 made up of lots of NROMs?

Does anyone have a CC65 linker config that could be used to have a custom menu with a bunch of NROMs to load? I have a bunch of development builds of different ROMs I need to be able to quickly switch between. I see in NesDEV that MMC1 can be coaxed to work in this manner, but have not made a bank s...

My project currently uses an NROM-256, which mapper should I move to, for the CHR-RAM?
