Re: Audio levels survey, expansion audio etc.

This is valuable data, especially considering the price of Gimmick.
I will use this and my measurements to tune the Everdrive N8 Pro which now has volume controls for all audio mappers.
Thank you for creating these tests rainwarrior. :beer:

Re: VRC7 and 5B amplifier investigation, also VRC7 LFO reset

Might as well be a simple inverting op-amp. Pin 27 is the 5B chip output, while pin 45 is you standard famicom signal. I would guess this cart is loud in comparison to others since the amplification factor is quite high if it is indeed a simple op-amp, but I have no idea. From lidnariq's post I can ...

Re: Audio levels survey, expansion audio etc.

I see our results are within 0.5-1db from one another, that's very accurate in analog standards. I can also say from what I hear and the measurement readings that all expansion audio carts were designed for pre GPM (non-FF VCCI) Famicom console, that includes the newer Just Breed and Gimmick! too. I...

Re: Audio levels survey, expansion audio etc.

I have a HVC-CPU-07 and two AV Famicoms. I also have Akumajou Denstsu (VRC6), Erika to Satoru (Namco 163), Megami Tensei II (Namco 163), Lagrange Point (VRC7), and Just Breed (MMC5). I'll start with a AV modded HVC-CPU-07 through pin 46 (shielded cables and all) since all the expansion audio carts w...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

Digital signals can be downconverted to analog ones with an adapter. Analog signals can be upconverted to digital ones with an adapter.... like the OSSC. :lol: In that case I don't need the Super Nt... AND have the original console AND Composite, S-Video, RGB and HDMI outputs; Can't get more authen...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

@jwdonal
Are you alive?

@idc
I (and thousands like me) want S-Video and RGB like the original for authentic experience on a CRT,,, which the Super Nt doesn't deliver.
I don't care for HDMI, I have emulators with 99.99% compatibility that look and play just as good.

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

@jwdonal, I think if you want to contribute to the emulation scene or SD2SNES project you just need to start a kickstarter and name your terms. You will find that people are generous and willing to donate so you can work on the special chips in the SD2SNES while being assured that everything is fair...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

Would that make them more or less fake than an SNES Jr. that can't run Pocky & Rocky? Pocky and Rockey, and Super Ghouls and Ghosts, both are bugs of SD2SNES where it didn't reset some DMA address like a when switching a real cartridge which requires a full power cycle. It has been fixed in ver...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

FPGA based clones are more real than the official Snes mini.
Besides, the original hardware from the 90s is not eternal but FPGA code, IS.

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

This is fantastic to hear that you have the will to do it, this will be quite huge improvement to the value of sd2snes.
If you can/will please contact him directly, I certainly don't want to be a middle man in such grandiose historical events if they happen. :)

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

Hi.

@jwdonal, what say ye about helping ikari implementing SuperFX and SA-1 on the SD2SNES?
You have the talent and already know how the main snes CPU works and have the code in FPGA form.

Sorry about hijacking.
