Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

Tested it by booting directly from Memory Pit. Stops on Green Screen so never boots it. Not using the initial release build made by Shutterbug though. I'm using the version compatible with 1.4's Camera app. So at least on that version anyways it doesn't work. I've been able to run it from hbmenu tha...

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

Unlaunch stores it' settings in the Launcher TMD that it's code also resides in. This file is on NAND so issues with SD card/missing SD card won't impact it's ability to store settings.

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

From what I've seen, the exploit can work on all versions. There's only been like 2 or 3 revisions of the camera app for USA/Europe and Japan. With Japan having 3 with the other two regions having 2. The non compatible versions still hang when the exploit is attempted so it likely just needs some of...

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

Oh yeah on the subject of Memory Pit, currently Unlaunch can't be started directly from it. Could look into making it get along better with Memory Pit or see if it's an issue with Memory Pit's loader. Hard to say. I haven't seen the code for it yet so I don't really know fully what's going on with t...

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

When/if 2.0 Unlaunch gets released....please support directories in your file browser. I have like hundreds of SRL files spread out all over my SD card and they ALL appear in the main file selection menu. So it takes me ages to find something I need to boot if I need to use Unlaunch to run it. :P Th...

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

System Settings and some other system apps may have their own checks and those are not patched out. Only Launcher. As I recall with my System Settings, I just modified the Ver string inside the app instead of trying to modify the version data SRL. :P

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

Me thinks using a database of md5/sha1's of all the known TMD files of the known Launcher versions would have been better for detecting "unknown" firmware versions then using file dates as that could be unreliable. If system does a system update with wrong clock setting, that could easily ...

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

It's been awhile since I've done any serious hex editing stuff. Don't think I know how to do that anymore. :(

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

Ok got my DSI back. Tested 1.8 myself now (the reports about HIyaCFW Launcher not working was based on reports I was getting from others so hadn't tested that myself yet). It's able to boot my prepatched Launcher SRL off SDMC (it just shows up in your file browser with the rest of the apps so didn't...

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

Well as for what changes I've made to Launcher I'm trying to use on SD. I modified the "default" device list table Launcher uses. Found at offset 0x191304 on 1.4E (should be the same for the big 3 regions. Only different with dev versions and perhaps more exotic versions like China/Korea)....

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

It appears loading Launcher from SD (as DSiWare I guess) still doesn't work even though the change log seems to suggest you made a patch case for loading Launcher off SD? Also I would like to test how far this gets on a 3DS, but I think the wifi error screen is still getting in the way. Unlike on DS...

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

Finally got around to testing 1.7. Seems to work fine for me. Cart loader still doesn't boot my DS-Xtreme. Had to sell my iEvo, so no longer have that to test so not sure on that one. (my guess is probably still no since you'd need to have the cart in hand to test it. Likely a hardware issue with ho...

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

Most modern DS flashcarts spoof existing game roms. There's not much you can do in that case. You can either send him the header of the SRL of the rom dump you made from the flashcart or tell him the game/came code so he can find the rom and check it. A full rom dump would most likely not be much di...

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

Another factor about uninstalling Unlaunch could produce unsafe conditions. If Launcher.app was corrupted/swapped out/changed or the first part of the TMD was modified outside of Unlaunch's knowledge. So blindly truncating TMD back without first verifying that the TMD/Launcher pair would be valid wo...

Re: DSi unlaunch (bootcode exploit)

Touchscreen doesn't work, too (as far as I remember you mentioned that somewhere, too). One think that looks wrong is your cartheader entry [1BFh], that's setting the touchscreen to NDS mode, or is that intended as so? Once when it's in NDS mode, I don't know of way to switch touchscreen back DSi m...
