PowerPAK, Games that don't register input
I've now run into 2 games that both strangely don't register any input at all. They are Paperboy (U) and Dirty Harry (U). Has anyone else tested these games? For my they totally ignore controller input. I don't understand why.

MMC4, Fire Emblem Gaiden has improved. The only problem I've noticed so far is the right side of some windows (outside of battle) are missing the right side. But the game is more enjoyable now that you can see your characters battling. =) Dirty Harry (U) still suffers the problem where input is not ...

Because I felt like poking around, I was looking at Sack of Flour - Heart of Gold tonight. When running it on Nintendulator previously and when testing it on a real NES I found that seemingly randomly the name tables would get trashed when it loaded a level. I also noticed on the title screen and le...

Another game that doesn't work right that seems odd as it's marked as a good mapper. Fire Emblem Gaiden (MMC4). The game runs, but it's not doing it's MMC2 like bankswitching for graphics. This is most noticable whenever you character attacks his animation is all screwwed up tiles. Is MMC4 support i...

I read an explanation once about EPROMs which was something like this. Each Bit in an EPROM is like a room with a tiny door. When you erase the EPROM you pack every room with people. When you program the EPROM you are using the programming voltage to push people out of the rooms. The EPROM decides w...

Unless it's portable I don't see the point. The NES-on-a-Chip isn't 100% compatible. Lots of things just seem to be off. Use a real NES or Famicom for anything serious. Use NES-on-a-Chip if its free. If you have a whole NoaC system, use it for a doorstop. I played some stuff on a NoaC device before ...

Sadly no one that is really familar and experienced with the NES writes any tutorials for noobs, that's why. The only people thinking about the noobs are the noobs. I've noticed alot of homebrew and such doesn't even work too. Makes it alot harder to learn. I've been poking around and using Nestopia...

The Sack of Flour game doesn't even work right on the emuators I use. The first level is ok but then the second has missing tiles, and the 3rd there are no background tile at all. Definitely learn to do it in ASM. NES isn't fast enough for having the luxury of some kind of high level language anyway.

It certainly sounds nice. But the whole versatility/emulating all the mappers you can is clearly what casual rom players want. For development/homemade games, wouldn't it be easier if someone designed a programmable (Flash) cartridge that had a mapper with enough features for whatever your project m...
