Re: Mesen - NES Emulator

OK; cool... I tried the labels before, but the Watch didn't update the name once if was already labeled in the Watch section as the true address. It's a little awkward but as long as it works somehow. :) Been noticing some strange things given the breakpoints when you right-click the breakpoint sect...

Re: Misheard voice acting in retro games

Why did Capcom think that shitty and choppily-animated "HD" remake of Street Fighter was a good idea?

Re: Mesen - NES Emulator

Sour: Oh yeah I see the refreshing Watch list now. Great! However, if you have refresh watch list checked, you cannot remove a Watch by right-clicking while it's updating. It's greyed out and will not let you. Also, is there a way to give an address in Watch a nickname? For example: [$17E] "Spawn Ch...

Re: Mesen - NES Emulator

This emulator is tops... Couple things I've noticed before and after the roll-out. - Holding joystick/controller inputs seems to affect keyboard inputs, like holding shift-f* to make a savestate. - I'll check now, but there have been some instances of mesen/debugger crashes with editing RAM in the m...

Re: UNIF>NES2 Conversion

Very nice work! Of any of these, like City Fighter IV, would many of them be able to be assigned as submappers with "mother mappers"?

UNIF>NES2 Conversion

I'm not aware personally, but has anyone so far taken all known NES/Famicom dumps and scanned for which entries are UNIF? We could go about the process as a community to start assigning NES2 mappers and submappers for them. It's best that the community with the most "know how" goes about collectivel...

Re: NES Journey to Silius Wrong Death Warp

Cool! I'll verify them by doing dumps later on... Just to teach you to get into good habits, start thinking with hexadecimal... When you wrap your mind around thinking only in hexadecimal, it's easier to start thinking in bitwise operations. ...And then all videogames and speedrunning hacking. :) He...

Re: NES Journey to Silius Wrong Death Warp

Yeah... I corrected that oversight! Not enough sleep. Checking the value of the vertical scroll is a part of the checkpoint incrementation routine as well. Something we should probably do is map out the possible "valid" respawn locations from the ROM look-up tables. As you can see in my previous pos...

Re: NES Journey to Silius Wrong Death Warp

Yes... Also remember that $32 (Vertical (up/down) frame location) is a part of the equation regarding checkpoint value incrementation. I've noticed areas in Level 2 simply by falling down gaps that the checkpoint counter increases. (I've even tried seeing if for some reason someone could trigger a b...

Re: So what kind of stuff do people want to see on the SNES?

I would like to see a Game Boy Color cart/game using VIN expansion audio to be plugged into a Super Game Boy 2, also utilizing the SPC700 audio to full extent and somehow using the SGB border as an active element of gameplay.

Re: NES Journey to Silius Wrong Death Warp

OK. Here's some stuff: Macro Frame Location = $30 Micro Frame Location = $31 "Ground level" Baseline Value = $32 Walking speed value added to $31 = $34 Lives = $53 Energy = $B0 ; #$FF-$#81 or #$00 = death / $#80 off-screen / #$01-#$7F = positive health Gun Types Available = $B7 (bitwise) Selected Gu...

OK. Set it as mapper 86 submapper 1. Bit 1 is set on byte 14 of the NES2 header. The DPCM ROM is attached after the CHR. Interesting to get this UM5100 chip emulated...

Re: Header Control (attn: Emulator Authors)

I've had hands in creating a few ROM archives myself since ~1999. I know how difficult it can be. I worked with NEStoy, GoodNES, a tool a friend and I made, etc... The thing is, there are people who like doing this kind of work. Source it to them. Make the back-end for them and they will do it with ...
