Re: The Difficulty of ARM Assembly

What assemblers are there for ARM ? I have been trying to find something and google isn't being helpful. Assembler is supposed to be the thing that turns code into program not the code itself...

Re: bsnes-mcfly: The v073 and bsnes-classic killer

Windows Vista and newer will unactivate themselves at some point when they cannot phone home. There's software around that mimics the licensing server and allows things to work but it is still legally troublesome.

Re: measured colour output levels?

That analog dimming should be under a button press or such if I were to measure it. My scope lacks video line triggers (DRM option no less lol) and it has not enough memory to do a full frame capture. I can only work with a stable frame with solid vertical bars per one test, once all bars are measur...

Re: measured colour output levels?

If someone can make a test ROM that shows a greyscale ramp I'll be able to take measurements on SNES and PCE/TG16 aswell. The ramp needs to show a solid white bar on left edge, then go to black and progressively higher until it reaches white and then to black again. White on left allows to me to kno...

Re: Genesis: what's this thing with high and low colors?

Shadow/Highlight is controlled by tile priority (all low priority tiles get shadowed and anything underneath them) and specific sprite pixels. Sprite indexes 14 and 15 in last palette control if that pixel shadows or highlights an underlying pixel (Index 14 in sprites using other palettes are *alway...

Re: NoKey95: Disabling Microsoft-Logo-Keys on Windows95 keyb

The registry thing mentioned earlier to remap keys etc. only works in NT line, it doesn't work in 9x. You will have to hack the keyboard VXD directly to get rid of winkey or do like me in past and put tape on the contacts inside the keyboard.

Re: Genesis: what's this thing with high and low colors?

What you seek for is called Shadow/Highlight mode. MD VDP DACs are interesting things with 17 possible output levels. Silicon shots have revealed a sausage structure sitting between AVCC and AGND with taps at various points over the length of it, each tap going to one of the 17 transistors that are ...

Re: Imagine haveing a 7mhz 6502

There is usually one sprite, for mouse cursor on most post VGA chipsets. Scrolling can be done by changing framebuffer start address, especially on things with VESA VBE support.

Re: Resistor interfering with backup SRAM?

I have found similar circuits to be completely unreliable when you remove the cartridge or otherwise handle it, more often than not the SRAM gets corrupted.

Re: Resistor interfering with backup SRAM?

Do you have a proper battery management circuit there ? The 8 pin chip that most carts have rather than some diodes and resistors arrangement ?

Re: Resistor interfering with backup SRAM?

It is more likely that the FeRAM bank you're using is damaged. You should tie the unused address line to different state to use the fresh FeRAM bank on the chip. The game uses early type of FeRAM with much more limited write cycle capability than modern chips and it isn't the first time I see a dama...

MCD has a setup with a framebuffer that can do blits and whatnot between the RAM banks, completely different from what the VDP would have had in it.

Re: Sega Super Scaler sprite rendering information?

There was gonna be sprite scaling on MD but it was one of the things that got axed. Horizontally it shouldn't take much effort but vertically there's some extra state to store. There's no room left for VRAM accesses and silicon shots show that there's no space for any extra memory in the VDP either.

Re: Revisiting CRT RGB mod; perserving OSD with transisors?

Neck board is what amps that 4...8Vish RGB to 150ishV RGB to drive the cathodes. Generally TV stuff all goes by "chassis" which is the term used for the electronics in the housing. One chassis is usually used in a selection of models, i.e Philips L04E chassis is used in some 10+ variations with vary...
