Correct. The only thing that changes is BG: to CDEF

Re: MMC5 test program

Does toggling the sprite size ever change the banks used for BG or data? Yes. (e.g. toggling EXRAM having an effect on the banks used for sprites) No. Sorry for the crap picture quality. Tell me if you want me to do some specific tests. on reset: http://3dscapture.com/junk/mmc5test-rst.jpg toggling...

Re: Nes Demos

I don't know if these are online, but long ago loopy had made some awesome demos. One was a bouncing ball that would stretch and deform that I believe was drawn entirely with timed writes to the $2001 register. You sure that wasn't my Boing 2007 demo, used to prove a point about Young Indiana Jones...

To keep the BIOS busy until the next NMI hits, I presume.

Re: FDS RAM Adapter - NES Version

No reason it can't be fixed. There are emulators that do it right. I didn't have a good reference back when I wrote it. I've dusted off my powerpak, look for an update in a day or two.

Re: Nesdev.com funding

If this is about getting a new server, just do a one time fundraiser and get it done.
I don't have much of an opinion on ads. I didn't even know we had them, I'm always logged in and have an adblocker. Keep them around if they can help out with recurring costs.

I ... I'm not touching this one. Even thinking about it is exhausting.

Re: Perfect FDS 2C33 audio when not using actual FDS disks?

Yeah. It's an enigma to me too. What tools use these files? How were the dumps made? I guess it would be more aptly named MGD1 format. I was given some sample files, I deduced the format on my own. It's similar to .FDS. Only a 3-byte header. 2 extra CRC bytes with file blocks. No fixed file size. On...

Re: Development Hardware

[shameless plug] There's also fdsstick. Pros: Dirt cheap. Price was dropped recently. Convenient for development. It can load directly thru USB so your test cycle is: Compile, push reset. With powerpak et al., it's more like: Compile, power off, remove card, connect to pc, copy file, move card back,...

Re: Perfect FDS 2C33 audio when not using actual FDS disks?

I've updated the software to read+write raw dumps (change the file type when choosing a file). I made a minor board change a while ago that makes disk reading more reliable on certain drives. If you have an older board, you can do it yourself (if you have the right tools). It's an improvement over t...

Re: Perfect FDS 2C33 audio when not using actual FDS disks?

I finally got around to adding support for Game Doctor (a.k.a. "famicom copier") disk format. So, have fun with that... all 3 of you ;) Also, the flash code has gone through a major rewrite and sped up significantly (about 10X faster than before) so it's worth updating just for that. Download from t...
